Default Coachella Timewarp: 1999 Coachella Schedule

What is arguably the best Coachella lineup (electronica/idm) of them all, here is the schedule from that first year. Some noteworthy conflicts:

    Beck v. Underworld

Nightmare on Wax vs. Medeski Martin & Wood vs. Super Furry Animals Vs Derrick May

Kid Koala Vs. Chemical Brothers Vs Richie Hawtin

Push Button Objects Vs. Cibo Matto Vs. Rahzel

Autechre Vs. Thievery Corporation Vs. Scratch Perverts

    Coachella Schedule 1999

    It goes on and on....
Coachella 01' - 13' and still counting..... 13th year!!!! Geez, I'm getting old..

WOW..Underworld played for 2 hours and 45 minutes? Moby for 2 hours and 40 minutes? and BOTH Headliners Beck and Tool playing for over 2 hours?!?!??! Fuck..I stand corrected...I thought Only Roger Waters and Prince had the honor or playing that long..goddamnit...this was the only Coachella I missed...

That was the only year I missed as well. But I'm inclined to think most of them probably ended earlier than allotted time. Can Vinyl, or anyone who went that year, confirm that?

LOL! That was my experience during 2001. I have no recollection between 1:30 - 7. All I remember was Planet of the Drums in a dome tent that was slowly melting all around me with weird dancing mimes and stuff. The heat didnt help either, plus I mistook the dose I took. The rest of the night was a blast though.

Tool played for like an hour and 25 minutes. Beck played for about an hour.

And I doubt Underworld and Moby went over an hour and a half too. In fact, no way did Moby play for two hours...his setlist is on my site (thanks to C Dub).

whoever put that schedule together just made the last acts of the day last to midnight, which is wrong.

I am such a dunce for missing Underworld. I remember Jacob being thoroughly disgusted with Beck because his set sounded so 70's-dated.

From what I've heard from the Underworld set, only about a half hour recording, it sounded really good...I wish I had the whole thing.

kid koala played two sets remember. it looks like he was djing during the stage changes. whoever missed him for the chemical brothers was able to catch him right after the chemical brothers. not a real conflict.

tool vs moby is an interesting yet horrible conflict.

i reckon tool was the way to go, but i just adore seeing the lights reflect off moby's bald head.

My sources confirm that Tool will conflict with Moby at Coachella 09.

No way. Anyone who would pick Kid Koala or the fucking Chemical Brothers over a fucking 99 Hawtin set is nuts.

I dont know, its a 99 Chems set too. That's some pretty classic material.

I'd pick the Chems, but would be very sad about missing Hawtin.

Thats a sweet lineup. A few things that stood out:

Underworld playing a 165 min set!
    Morrissey>The Chemical Brothers>Beck
A Perfect Circle open the main stage at 2pm
At the drive-in opening the outdoor at 1:20pm
The long sets in general. Proper.

Underworld did not play a 165min set. The guy who made that schedule (and site in general) just took the times listed in the booklet (there weren't any end times listed in the 99 booklet) and for the last acts of each day, he just listed them all as ending at midnight, regardless if they started 3 hours before or not. That site has all sorts of errors in it. Very lame if you ask me.
