You could get a full sleeve or something, I suppose. Although, for me, if I ever got a tattoo it would definitely be somewhere less visible -- I would be more interested in getting one for myself, than as something to display to the outside world.

Posting those made me want a tattoo, actually. But that would require first getting overly my overwhelming fear of needles.

I have some smallish tattoos, one is partially visible. I can't do anything too extreme because of my job -- forearms are out, unless I want to wear long sleeves a lot of the time. Plus I'd need to have buff arms to want to do a sleeve.

I love the connect the dot giraffe tattoo, so fuckin cute, the bird on a branch one is really pretty but I have heard the rib cage area is the worst possible place to get a tattoo. Anytime I see a woman with a tattoo there I want to high five her.

I haven't had a tattoo in 2 years, I use to get one a year since I turned 30. It is definitely time. Once I have "extra" money I will be getting my shoulder cap done soon. I have to be able to afford a trip to Hawaii first though because that is where I will be getting my next tattoo.

One of my tattoos is on my side and it was indeed a painful place to get ink. My ribs would vibrate producing an odd queasy feeling in my innards. If I remember correctly it took about 3-4 hours too.

I'm really attracted to ink like this on women. Even more so when nice bewbs are involved.

my sis has a pirate ship/tall ship style tattoo that goes from her hip all the way up her side. planned on color, but decided the outline was good enough, couldn't deal with any more pain.

I wonder if the pain of tattooing on the ribs depends on how much extra flesh you have there. I only have two tattoos, but the one on my shoulder blade was pretty uncomfortable when the guy was tattooing right over the bone. I had it touched up years later when I was fleshier and it didn't hurt at all. I *almost* cried the first time, but one of my guy friends was with me, and I wasn't going to cry in front of him!

It does up towards my arm and waist hurt much more than in the middle, at the end of my ribcage

The tattoo I have on my hip has a small portion that was up on the bottom half of my rib cage and it was pretty painful. People say the top of the foot hurts but the one I have there didn't hurt at all. My most painful one was the one up on the back of my neck between my shoulder blades. With all the nerve endings there I could feel the needle through my entire body. I had to sit through 2 settings of about 3 hours each. I did cry a little. Especially when he would take a smoke break and come back to start again. Fucker.

People told me the one on the back of my neck would hurt (especially when going over vertebrae) but it didn't at all, it actually tingled in a somewhat pleasant way

I was dating the guy who did it and I swear I think he was mad at me when he did it because it felt worse than any of my tattoos. I also learned that you must spell check your tattoos, even if you know the guy doing the work.
