I'm thinking of getting my first tattoo this week. "Let Love In" on my inner bicep. As a homage to the Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds album(same font as the cover), and face it, that's one good phrase.
Plus, this song over everything.
Guess I never posted my Stone tattoo I got last year. Hey and the picture is Coachella themed. Bonus.

OK that is awesome stone tat. Once I reach my weight loss goals my reward to myself is going to be my first tattoo. Cant decide between a half sleeve of a Japanese style tiger or a portrait of my grandpa from WWII, him with a cig in mouth and rifle in hand.
Come on - dragons, tigers and koi make for awesome tattoos.
With our love-we could save the world-if they only knew.
Yeah I probably will go with my grandpa. How do you guy think this image will look on skin though? IMAG0171.jpg
It's a bit blurry on here but the actual picture itself is much more clear and better looking.
Also I've always loved tigers and I like the Japanese style tattoo's so I figured why not. Like I said it's my weight loss goal and I'm still a few months out so my mind could easily change from now til then. I just started looking at artist/shops so we shall see.

I would totally vote for him.
Portrait tattoos are a gamble, but if you do your research and really take the time to check out shops, artists, and portfolios - and then have consults with a few artists to get a sense of time, pricing, and how they would sketch out the portrait - portraits can turn out alright. You cannot cut corners with effort, time, or location with this. It is a long process to find an artist that will do a great job that you also jibe with personality-wise.
Don't be one of those people who walks in, looks at the Japanese style flash, and just picks some random-ass tiger. Anyone who gets flash shouldn't be getting a tattoo in the first place.
I know while I haven't been to many shops yet I have been doing research and looking at portfolio's online. I'm using that as a decision for what shops I want to actually go into. My only worry about that picture of my grandpa is that it's a full body thing and about 95% of the portraits I've seen are just the face and I wouldn't want that.
As far as the tiger goes I wouldn't get any style from a wall. I'm committed to having it free hand drawn on me so it's an original and it flows on me better. But like I said the Japanese Tiger is just what I want right now. Whenever it's time to get one I might have my mind changed on the tiger or the style.
Also I'm in Orange County. Does anyone have any recommendations for artists/shops for me to check out? I'm willing to drive to LA or San Diego but don't want to travel much farther then that. I would though for the right artist.
Flaming dice. Can't wait.
Grandpa's pic is bad ass.
Miss C, you get that partial sleeve?
is that mariah carey?

Here is one of my tattoos that I got last year. A little robot/record player my friend drew for me. This picture is kind of shitty, I can try to take a better one later that shows the details.

My first tattoo! (high five)
It's over my heart. My bf has the same symbol on his wrist.
