easy, i am just not that into portishead. I had their albums when i was in junior high and such and never really liked it much. all the hype on the message boards made me do alot of listening to them before coachella, and then i saw they were doing a rehersal show and you could win tickets by going to fingerprints in long beach and preordering their album.

made the drive, got there 6 hours early and my free passes.

the show was at the mayan in downtown and there were two lines to get in, one for fanclub the other for industry and people that won tickets. it took forever to get in and was all GA.

the show was pretty good, a little over an hour of material with most of the songs from third played and many from the other two albums. beth was really quite the whole show and often turned her back to the audiance. someone in the front row had a sign that said something like "will you play at my wedding". i mean they sound great live.... but i was really bored by some of it.

they were alot better at the rehersal than at coachella IMO. i dont think i would pay to go see them again though.

oh and on a side note i put my extra ticket up to the rehersal up on the message board to trade for a saturday coachella ticket, which ended up working out for me...

Not in any particular order. And does Coachella count as one show?

My Morning Jacket - Marquee Theater
    Sigur Ros - Marquee Theater
    Prince - Coachella
    Gogol Bordello - Coachella
    Aphex Twin - Coachella
    Beck - Dodge Theater
    Portishead - Coachella
    Adam Freeland - Coachella
    Roger Waters - Coachella
    I'm From Barcelona - Coachella

I just realized I need to go to more concerts. Wow

    In no particular order.

My Morning Jacket - The Marquee Theater
    Calexico -The Rialto
Wilco - The Riviera Winter Residency Night 1
    Roger Waters - Coachella
    Prince - Coachella
    Portishead - Coachella
    The National - Sasquatch
    The Flaming Lips - Sasquatch
    Rodrigo y Gabriella - Sasquatch
    Wilco - Lollapalooza

edit: I am going to assume that Nine Inch Nails playing in Vegas at the smallest venue on the tour next month would make this list.

I can't count festival shows for me since all of them were pretty amazing so here is my list of individual performances in no order

The Secret Machines - Metro, Chicago
Kings of Leon - Aragon Ballroom, Chicago
    Beck/MGMT - Aragon Ballroom, Chicago
The Faint - Vic Theater, Chicago
Sea Wolf/Jealous Girlfriends - Schubas, Chicago
    Radiohead - Victoria Park, London
Girl Talk - Congress Theater, Chicago
    Adam Freeland - Smartbar, Chicago
TV on The Radio - The Riviera Theater, Chicago

and for my 10th I'm gonna say that
My Morning Jacket at The Chicago Theater probably would have made this list if it wasn't postponed

It was incredible. Devastatingly so, and I don't listen to his music very much... It's a little to strictly intuitive for me, but it was an unreal experience.

Those statements do not make sense when added together. You drove all the way out there and waited 6 hours to see a band that bores you? WTF?

I was questioning that myself. I guess basically he had really high expectations from the hype on this board and decided it was worth the 6 hours of waiting/driving and was let down by the performance. I would think you would know what you are getting into with some youtube clips though.

Swervedriver was amazing live, pure perfection. NOTHING boring about them. ON another topic, did anyone go to the "F Yeah Festival" in Los Angeles, they had some good bands there. I was not able to make it. Also, I regret not going to any shows for the International Pop Overthrow series that takes place every spring in Los Angeles.
