"people have been saying they'll be getting back together soon in say 5 years at coachella or whatever... but its just not happening. the show is too physical, we just wont be able to do it"
well. They did comment on the group of people getting back together to make music together but not necessarily playing lcd songs.
I'm more excited for James working on new Yeah Yeah Yeahs record than Arcade Fire
I like how one of the related videos is the top 21 oregon duck touchdowns in 2011... ??? Is James a duck fan?

I saw SUAPTH tonight, as part of a big UK/Ireland simulcast affair. There was a horrendously shambolic red carpet thing from the Hackney screening that made me wheeze laughing and then the the Q&A was after the credits. You could see people leaning forward a little when the AF question came up, but nobody really expected him to answer it. Nothing earthshattering, but he's always an engaging chap to listen to.
It was a pretty nicely big deal too, the screening - it was being shown simultaneously on all screens of the cinema, and we could hear reactions from the others. When James mentioned being disappointed about not being able to play Dublin during the stupid ass stupid freaking stupid volcano, there was a huge response, which was fun. Lots of cheering, laughing, clapping, throughout, it was all very cool and eventy and I enjoyed both it and the free beer on offer immensely. And then it made me very sad.
After all that though, oddly, the main thing it left me with - aside from that pretty heartbreaking clip of James surveying his gear before parting ways with it - was a desire to go watch the MSG show in full again. The movie, I feel kind of done with, it was a cool experience, but I'm not sure I need to see it again. The concert's gonna keep on giving. Feels like it should be the other way around, but there you are.
I did mentally wave hello to the boardies I spotted/imagined I spotted onscreen, btw.
concert audio please?
Well, mine has shipped, but has to travel across the country. I'm very much looking forward to watching!

Daft Punk is playing at my house!

The footage is pretty good, I probably have a lower opinion of it than I should because the only other concert film I've ever seen is Stop Making Sense and that is just phenomenal. But the sound is amazing, they did a top notch job mastering this.

This should probably be in the confession thread . . .
I was watching an episode of Married to a Jonas and a commercial for The Soup came on. James was throwing his hands to the roof in the background.
Get a job, JIMMY!!! Or better yet, go back to your old one.

From 2004 to the day they quit, photographer Ruvan Wijesooriya navigated through both private and public moments with the influential, Grammy-nominated, NYC indie band. Ruvan was a fan, first and foremost, and quickly became a fly on the wall and instigator who brought new meaning to the term, "I'm with the band." His access and friendship with LCD is something rare in the commercialized and controlled music industry of today, and this close relationship can be seen in the rapport between photographer and subject. The locations include Hyde Park in London, various New York institutions, Coachella, Rick Rubin's recording mansion in the Hollywood Hills, Way Out West festival in Sweden, Miami Art Basel and more. In addition, the scope of the book goes beyond just photography and features various album art and original interviews with members of the band and showcases an exciting design by James Timmins, art director of Dossier magazine. A handful of these photographs were featured in the recent LCD film, Shut Up And Play The Hits, and others have appeared in Rolling Stone, Spin, The New York Times Magazine, and The New Yorker, but the vast majority have never been shown before, making this the ultimate must-have for every fan to remember the band.

I want the DVD for Christmas, which one should I tell my husband to get. Are there different box sets? Is there one with a t-shirt? I know I could do the research, but you guys are a much more reliable source than the Internet.
There is only a DVD and Blu Ray version. Both contain the movie and the full concert I believe.
Weren't there some box sets with books and/or t-shirts? I really want a t-shirt.
I WANT IT ALL!!!! In fact, wrap James in some candy cane paper and put him under my tree.
There was a website that had tiered packages: http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/lcdsoundsystem
Some came with a book, some a shirt, some a poster, some pictures, etc.
But in stores it's just the DVD or Blu Ray versions.
My opinion: The movie was just OK; but the audio for shut up and play the hits was horrible. Maybe I had to be there. What a way to end a lackluster, but momentarily exciting career.
Whiskey Sour
2 oz blended whiskey
Juice of 1/2 lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.
