Yeahhhhh

no but seriously, with Franz ferdinand a strong contender too and both of these bands being a solid second billing, would GV have them both? It would look an a lot like Coachella 06, not that theres any problem with me. I love both bands dearly but I think it may be one or the other

I would go (very temporarily) straight for Ms.Karen O

Yeah, this shit could happen! Saw YYY's at SD Street Scene a few years back. They came on just before Tool. Then the 2ce came on. Holy shit, What a night! Totally pixilated!
Proper respect to PJ Harvey, but YYY's can really reach a higher level during a live performance.
Looking forward to their new album!
Always fun live. Enjoyed their 2006 set. Bring 'em on.
*crosses fingers for "Art Star" again*

The first and last time I saw YYY's was in '03 opening for the White Stripes @ the Greek (first time I saw WS as well). Karen O and the gang are very welcome in '09- at least in my book.
I'm pretty sure that they're going to play.
Man they were soooo good at '06. DO WANT.
quite alot of possibilities....
Upcoming Shows:
Pitchfork Festival: 7/19 @ Union Park
Mountain Oasis Festival: 10/25-27
Coachella: 4/11-13 @ Empire Polo Fields
I remember when she ate the mike on stage in '06, then spat beer on the crowd. yeah that was cool...
one of my favorite Coachella acts ever.

I just got the administrators to delete a thread. It was a rush.
Chicken pot, chicken pot, chicken pot piiiieeeeeeeee!
How can you compare PJ Harvey to Karen O.!!! That is like Bananas and Pomegranates. In her early days Harvey was shrill, brash, and unapolgetic(i.e, Dry, 4 Track Demos, Rid of Me, and more Recently Uh Huh Her) The last time I saw her she was more mellow, doing less of the guitar oriented work and on her latest album its totally Piano based. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs on the other hand. They are like a supernova, an explosion, and anomoly that is insurmountable and unstoppable. Karen O. is a Fashion show, a diva, and a bonifide star. She demands your attention as does Nick Zinner. They are Art Rock at its best as PJ Harvey is a straight ahead rock n roll auteur. I had the chance to see the Yeah Yeah Yeahs do their self proclaimed first In-Store ever back in 06 at a record store in Dallas. They played 4 songs one of them being a beautiful version of "Art Star" off their first ep. The place was packed, people were cheering, crying, and just going mad. Some people couldnt even get out the door. Then I drove right down the street to see them perform at their proper show. Karen O. is the definitive woman. PJ Harvey spent a lot of time exploring her manly attributes early in career that I think it turned some fans away. Anyways both are beautiful in their own right but you can't compare and contrast because one has a larger catalogue and more miles and could even be seen as an influence to the other. If you want to compare Karen O. to someone it would be one Susan Ballion better known as Siouxie Sioux.

I missed the '06 performance.. I think I was near the sahara tent for the massacre that was Madonna. I will not miss them again. (unless they conflict with the white stripes...)
Upcoming Shows:
Sasquatch Festival
That 06' performace was awesome. Biggest crowd they ever played in front of at that point and she fucking owned it! This would pretty much be a great thing.
Yes for Karen, Brian and Nick
je suis un extraterrestre
c'mon, there are some fair comparisons to be made between Karen O and PJ Harvey's early to mid 90's persona, fashion and music (e.g. Dress)...she even covered Highway 61 Revisited like Harvey did. i also get equal parts Kathleen Hanna, Siouxie Sioux, Chrissie Hynde, Joan Jett, a little Tina Turner and some others, but Karen O displays her influences openly and skillfully and is so legitimately talented in her own right that i think she'll eventually end up just as revered as some of her influences.
i wouldn't exactly describe Harvey's early career as "exploring her manly attributes" but that was the period during which she actually gained a following so i'm not sure how it caused her to lose fans..i also wouldn't dismiss her towering career as merely " a larger catalogue and more miles"...she's influenced a lot more artists than Karen O.
anyway, i fully support YYYs at Coachella 09. they're one of my favorite live bands and i'm highly anticipating the third album.

No one is taking away anything from PJ Harvey in fact I put up a post about how she needs to be at Coachella a couple weeks ago. I just think anyone looking at trying to compare the two side to side is missing the obvious. They do have similarities but Harvey was never the one to be flashy nor could she pull off the walkway sensibility of Karen O. and Karen couldnt pull off the majesty and minimal grace that is Ms. Harvey. No comparison, no contrast and in a couple of years if the Yeah Yeah Yeahs dont fizzle out and fade away or if Karen O. has a solo career then I know she will have been a role model and paved the way for almost as many women as PJ Harvey.
i think this is the most logical prediction yet - yyy will probably be there indeed...
