Default How Happy Would You Be? (Trance at Coachella)

How pleased would you be if you NEVER again had to hear Trance at Coachella ever again? The likes of Tiesto, Armin Van Burren, Paul Van Dyk and their ilk barred from performing at Coachella ever again.

How would this make you feel?

Answer on a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being "Hey, I actually like Tiesto, and also enjoy gnawing on my own genitalia, coincidentally while listening to his music in an idiotic stupor", 3 being "...I guess I don't really care?", and 5 being "Hey, I'm a perfectly rational human being and realize the benefits that would result if that garbage music never appeared at Coachella ever again, as in more slots being open to electronic acts with actual TALENT" and the other numbers being intermediary numbers.
    Upcoming Shows:
    * The Flaming Lips perform The Soft Bulletin - Bimbo's 365 in SF on February 21st
    * Jeff Mangum - Fox Theater in Oakland on April 10th

Five Years of Coachella Glory: 2007 - 2011 (skipping 2012, maybe I'll be back in '13?)

I can't vote five, I have to give the benefit of the doubt to the one good trance artist who lives in a cave somewhere

Depends, I dig PvD's faster, harder stuff but on the whole I'm not a huge trance fan. House is where its at.

AVH would DESTROY that German fuck face in a contest. I mean, it's one thing to be a shitty Trance DJ, but it's another thing to try and run from the fact like PVD has tried (and failed) to do.

Tiesto forced people to hear his music* in 2007 unless you were in the Sahara. I feel sad for the people who were just trying to listen to The Good, The Bad and the Queen.

*Edit: by music, in this case, what I meant was "regurgitated garbage"

Omar, I read what you said about Junkie not mixing anything, but conversely I've read what pilgrim had to say about seeing him mix live on the Coachella train, and he was standing right behind the dude.

Also, as far as the other DJs I've requested, the Bloody Beetroots and Toxic Avenger, much less AVH and Junkie, can run rings around PVD, Tiesto and their kind.

How about trance DJ's only when someone unmissable is playing on the main stage, like Bowie or Radiohead or Gorillaz or Pulp or 2 girls 1 cup.

I started thinking about the "gnawing on my own genitals" part and totally forgot what the question was!

    1.
Run to a nice patch of grass on the fields and lay face down.
    2. Tilt your head ninety degrees with your forehead temple resting on your forearm and watch people through the vision pocket right underneath your armpit hair.
    3. Do this for a few hours until you get comfortable.

A Daft Punk thread containing 'nothing of substance'. How bout that.

The only thing that sucks more balls than trance is Enter Shikari.

i've seen tiesto mixing live in a private party a few years ago. he played only house. does that prove something to you? i bet not. i've seen junkie xl enough times to know he is a joke of dj. i don't know if pilgrim saw him mixing or just beatmatching and playing with channels.

i'm sure there are many djs who could run rings around pvd. it'd be nice if those djs would come with something new and not with the same thing we got the last 2 years.

and orbit is right it was fun but let's hear something new

It's been there from the beginning.. the weak Britpop headliners Friday; the rumors that DP was gonna play, that it was a done deal, then all of a sudden 'oops, no, not gonna happen'; and now the new album. I don't like trance at all, but I am not opposed to a little of it being there...variety is part of what makes Coachella fun

I won't be watching it, but hopefully it will keep some people mesmerized while I'm off watching something better

PS, I think these silly DJ skills arguments are terribly silly...if it sounds cool and makes you move whats the difference?

It's like saying Yngwie Malmsteen or Joe Satriani would be better to see than any number of great bands simply because they are more technically proficient

Trance sounds ok when you're on drugs, so I wouldn't mind randomly hearing it at the Sahara tent, but I probably wouldn't stay long, so 4.
