A Damon Albarn tour would be a great time. I can imagine what a spectacular set list it would be. He has so many songs to choose from.

me too. I thoroughly enjoyed the primavera bcn set. I got my chance to see caramel and under the westway live, and it was overall a stompin' setlist. I was jumping and singing along like I was 16 again.

Petition to get Blur to schedule a proper tour of the U.S.

    Because petitions always solve everything.

Just saw on blur's f'book that they are playing Brazil after their campaign. Sure we are a much more apathetic people, though, so who knows.

Monkey was quite strange. It was surprisingly long/boring for the number of crazy things that happened (mostly acrobatics). It is very stylized. The presentation of the story was part of the problem, I think. There was no real drama. It seemed to be aimed at children that would be delighted by the funny noises the monkey makes and the people jumping around and the parents of those children that would remember the stories from their childhood and be comforted.

The music generally works for the piece but there is little that I would listen to without watching the whole thing. Maybe "Heavenly Peach Banquet" and "Confessions of a Pig", not much else.

I liked the animation interludes; I think the latter half would drag less if there had been another animation sequence or two to mix it up.

The acrobatics and aerialists were fun to watch and there were some quite funny bits but mostly it was slow and unengaging dramatically. I am glad I saw it but I can't imagine going again.

Vampire Weekend should NOT be covering Blur, EVER! I like Vampire Weekend too, and I fully expect them to headline Coachella next time they play.

Meh, I feel like Vampire Weekend does a good enough job of replicating Blur's collegiate, upper-class affectations for the millenial set that it kind of makes sense. I do think there are better/more interesting songs they could have chosen to cover though, Song 2 is the type of music I don't think they do particularly well.

And yeah they're playing stadiums, although Barclay's is a) small, and b) in Brooklyn, which means that acts catering to a semi-hipster demographic can book that room where they couldn't book the same size place in, say, North Carolina or something. Pretty sure the National, MGMT and some others are also playing there or have played there.

    Are Blur done?

The promoters in Australia hinted as that being the real reason for cancelling.

    1) Confirmed for Latitude Festiva 7/19 - only UK festival appearance

    2) Sundance setlist
    pics: http://www.spin.com/gallery/damon-al...street-photos/

Before an intimate, invite-only audience at YouTube's pop-up venue on Main Street last night (January 19), the Blur frontman performed acoustic versions of five new tracks off his forthcoming solo debut - due out April 28 - accompanied by a four-piece string section and keyboards. He then played one track each by Gorillaz and Blur.

The new material, gentle in tone, was reminiscent of Blur's more recent studio offerings. Albarn sang wistfully of isolation and reaching out to loved ones in 'Lonely Press Play', before launching into the string-led title song. 'Hollow Ponds' name-checked events in history, such as the 1976 British heatwave. Two further tracks, 'Hostiles' and 'You and Me', followed.

Albarn admitted to feeling "extremely nervous" before the intimate industry crowd, which numbered less than 100, though the new material elicited whoops of delight. The Gorillaz song 'Melancholy Hill' was particularly well-received – Gorillaz is how most Americans know Albarn – before an exquisite, clarinet-led version of Blur's 'To The End' rounded out the brief, 45-minute set.

    'Everyday Robots'
    'Hollow Ponds'
    'Hostiles'
    'You and Me'
    'Melancholy Hill'
    'To the End'

    3) More about the album...
"It's got my name on it and I wrote the songs, but Richard Russell was a fantastic editor and did a lot of the atmospheric stuff, so in a sense it's not entirely my record, Albarn told Rolling Stone. "It is my narrative, and my voice and my songs. I started off giving Richard a lot of songs, 60 or 60-plus — he had the editorship."

Albarn also discussed the guest appearances by Brian Eno and Bat For Lashes' Natasha Khan on the record. "Natasha sings a ghostly echo of my voice on the song 'Selfish Giant.' And Brian Eno sings a verse on the last song. He's a neighbor: I used to go to a health club that he goes to as well, but he always did much more interesting things than I did. I'd be on a mind-numbing running machine, and he took water aerobics classes. He was very Eno about it."
