Interesting.
Interesting.
.
We always get "Blur is dead!" and "Blur is alive!" but now we get both on the same day!? This is getting ridiculous...
I think I'll take Alex's word for it, seeing as how his tweet is the most recent.
EDIT: In fact, his tweet is probably a response to that other noise.
I like that outlook. That tweet is especially odd given that Alex seemed like one of the least interested in the reunion when it first started.

so I was looking over this box set they are about to sell. annoyingly the cd version has several exclusive live DVDs while the vinyl edition does not. wtf? whatever, I will pirate those.
fairly tempted to get the vinyl box. although they are also selling the vinyl as individual albums too. hmm.
lol... there's more b-sides there than you could ever listen to.
I'll settle for pirating those also. fact is if I cam going to buy physical media these days I have a really hard time buying CDs. they are an awful medium in this day and age. vinyl at least has its attractive qualities.
I don't disagree. I've already got all the b-sides from the singles box set. Some are quite good ("Magpie" might be my favorite) and some are less so. But I'm also one of those insufferable completists, especially when it comes to artists I'm particularly fond of. Blur are one of the few I probably have way too much stuff by.
new song. haven't heard it yet (at work) but thought i'd share.

Blur are set to preview some new material next week at a special rooftop show in London.
The recently-reformed group had been hinting for weeks about possible new developments and now we know what they were getting at. Although, we don’t know the exact location just yet…
Blur are set to play new tracks ‘Under The Westway’ and ‘The Puritan’ live on a London rooftop at 6.15pm and 7.15pm respectively next Monday (2 July).
The announcement was made by Alex James via Youtube, the video of which you can stream below.
More info and locations as they come in.
So Blur has new music coming out today. Is that the deal?
Blink-182 w/New Politics & Atlas Genius September 18 @ SB Bowl
Thirty Seconds to Mars October 12 @ Hollywood Bowl
Yes, that's the deal. They've just finished performing "The Puritan" live on a roof deck in London. An hour earlier they did the same with "Under the Westway." Both songs are out on iTunes now (though it doesn't appear that they're on the US version, unfortunately).
"Under the Westway" was a lovely ballad with Albarn on piano. This was the first time hearing a full band performance for me, and it sounded fantastic. A bit like "Whiter Shade of Pale," I think.
"The Puritan" was much more uptempo with a vocal bit in the second half that's likely to catch on with the crowds at their upcoming shows.
ETA: It actually is out on the US' iTunes. Excelsior!
Very nice... I'm sure I'll be hearing these songs live this August.
.
Ah lucky... I am seeing them at Way Out West.

Under The West Way is fantastic
