I don't care in what form but please get him for 2010. The Gutter Twins set was my favorite non headliner set at Lolla 08 and a huge surprise, the best set on Saturday no doubt.
queens of the stone age should really be there this year.
I'd kill for a full queens reunion (i.e. with nick oliveri back). seeing them with the triple-singer lineup of homme, oliveri, and lanegan was awesome.
Screaming Trees or Gutter Twins would be awesome. Like Pilgrim said they need Queens with Oliveri, Homme, and Lannegan because nothing will ever top Songs for The Deaf, I loved Rated R but SFTD was the icing on the cake.
Saw Gutter Twins play this summer. Lanegan looked really tired but they were still ferocious. I think I'd get more from seeing Gutter Twins again than QOTSA...
queens of the stone age, even as queens lite, are a fucking excellent live band.
They are, they're solid, but eh, I don't need to ever see them again, you know what I mean?
They lost me at "Lullabyes" and "Era Vulgaris" was just too disjointed. What Id really like to see is a Kyuss reunion at the Polo Fields that would be epic!
oh man. a kyuss reunion would indeed be epic. them closing the outdoor theater, maybe?
but yeah. I've seen QOTSA five times, and while I definitely don't ever NEED to see them again, I'd most certainly love to see them play a home town show (coachella valley). same with eagles of death metal.
Eagles of Death Metal have come here once in the last two months and are coming back again next month but i refuse to go see them cause first half of the tour they had The Duke Spirit with them now they have some crappy bands I wont give money too. I had the chance to see John Garcia from Kyuss play with Crystal Method and that was cool. Ive seen Queens 7 times ,1 for Rated R, 3 for SFTD, 2 for Lullabyes, and 1 for Era Vulgaris so im cool in that department too.
I don't think kyuss would ever actually reunite, (in fact, josh has said over and over that they don't want to re-hash the past) but I bet they'd do a one-off.
or maybe we get queens of the stone age with the rest of kyuss sitting in on a few songs.
I really do want to see QOTSA at coachella at night.
It would be cool at about 10pm hearing "Feel Good Hit of the Summer" LOL
* Note to Coachella board - Feel Good Hit Of The Summer is not necessarily a shopping list.
They wouldnt have to be shopping because we have the Beer Gardens and last year all the other stuff was offered to me so you could get it for free, no middleman, no connections, no long lines, just find a friend!!!
I think this song at night on the main or outdoor would be breathtaking:
This isn't a QOTSA thread this is about Mark Lanegan
btw Queens lost when Nick left and he ain't ever comin back
Kyuss would be awesome but not gonna happen
so with all that said let's get Gutter Twins, Mark Lanegan & The Soulsavers or any other project he has going on
Hmmm I think we touched base that we want him to play with the SFTD era QOTSA lineup. He was a quintessential part of that line up. You cant get mad when someone has been part of so many different bands when said bands are discussed. I mean we could spend hours on Screaming Trees but Lannegan is in Gutter Twins also with Greg Dulli who has a rich history in one of my favorite bands Afghan Whigs. So we are keeping to topic just touching face on the many historical facets and good that Mr. Lannegan has in his continuum.
this thread is about mark lanegan IN ANY FORM.
btw nick didn't leave, he was fired
kyuss would be aweosme, and is unlikely, but I challenge you to prove its' impossibility.
edit: thank you future
I've actually met him, and he's very nice. on stage, he oozes bravado, but it's called being a rock star. in person, he's really down to earth.
and he's not an egomaniac. that's why he plays/played/plays drums in EODM, and that's why he loves to be in the background on stuff like screaming trees songs, and producing the spinerrette album, etc. also, I don't think an egomaniac would come up with the idea of having a band with (in his own words) "three viable frontmen"
mark lanegan and josh make great counterparts to each other on stage. josh's surprising tenor, and hip-centric sway and stagger are the yin to mark's sandy baritone and the way he stands frozen, holding the mic stand like a rope out of hell. out of the 5 times I've seen QOTSA, the only three constants were josh, mark, and troy.
in summation:
mark lanegan 09! preferably with queens of the stone age.
I'll take ISOBEL CAMPBELL AND MARK LANEGAN.
Ill take Isobel on old Belle and Sebastian records lol
up!
