Default Justice - NYE - Chicago

Lots of people keep talking about the Justice DJ set on NYE in Chicago.

As a Chicago native...have I taken it for granted?

I am going with some friends, but wasn't expecting much. Now I keep hearing people from all over the mid-west are coming to the event.

Who is going? Where are you from??

I heard the event just sold out today.

If Dj Mehdi is spinning at this, youll like him more. But it will be a good time nonetheless.

I'm going to a friend's house party in my town for NYE. It's gonna be pretty sweet. He's got an I pod dock and shit.
Superfan will be in front of the Fonda masturbating furiously to a photo of him taking a photo of a band. Set is from 8:05 to approximately 8:05:15. Guest list only.

Upcoming Shows: Marques Wyatt - UCLA, Paul Mccartney - Dodger Stadium, Yes - Greek Theater, Herbie Hancock - Hollywood Bowl, NIN/Soundgarden - Hollywood Bowl, Cut Chemist/Dj Shadow - Palladium, Massive Attack SB Bowl

anytime something says "DJ Set" after the artists name I automatically get that much more disappointed about the show.

Fatboy DJ sets are far better than his live sets. HvsR - Mehdi is very very good DJ>

    Mehdi is a good DJ.
I already have the recording of what Justice will play. (SpoilerTime!)

All of their DJ sets following the release of A Cross The Universe are the exact same thing, with, in all seriousness, absolutely no change. They've been accused of faking it lately, and I can see why.

The I Love Techno Set, the Forma't Set, the HARD Haunted Mansion Set, and the Warehouse Project Set, are all the same. (I have recordings or was there in person).

It's not what you might expect from them, its a couple of their tracks, a couple of recent tracks, but mostly 90's french house (Bangalter, Buffalo Bunch, Le Knight Club) and other various disco-ish funk-ish repetitive dance stuff that i've never heard before, either cause I'm uneducated or because it's obscure. Oh and NO DAFT PUNK. Ha-

Anyways there you go, and if you or anyone else cares enough to want to hear this set, PM me and I'll direct you towards a nice sounding copy, ripped from the radio and free of any other bothersome interferences.

Walked up to the Congress at about 10:30 and the place was PACKED. At least 400 people outside waiting for will call tickets. One of my friends had to wait in the line for a ticket. By the time he got to the will call table, they simple gave him a ticket and said "get out of the way". He didn't provide them with a name, print out, or any credentials. He was simply given a ticket.

The line getting into the venue was pretty crowded. I waited about 10 minutes and walked right in. No one searched me or took my 2 tickets. I walked in completely free. Of course I walked back outside, sold em, and came right in smile.gif

The venue was packed with all sorts of cool people from all over the midwest. It seemed everyone was from everywhere except Chicago. Although I did recognize a few Chicago ravers from over the years....

There was tons of young kids, but the age range was nice. Plenty of people of all ages were in attendance.

I was disappointed the main entrance DJ was not at the top of the stairs. DJ was to the side just above everyone as you walked in the main entrance doors.

I believe there was only 2 DJs playing: entrance and main room. They didn't try setting up hallway DJs or other similar stuff I have seen at the Congress in the past.

The balcony/VIP area seemed to be filled up too. I went up there later and tons of bottles of vodka/booze were going around.

Main room was packed, dancing, and having a blast all night. I guess people were excited that it was NYE? My theory is that A LOT of good E was going around ;/

There was a cool midnight video countdown to the music with one of the Ed Banger DJs. Then right at midnight Justice took over and the party went nuts the entire time.

After Justice played, venue seemed to empty out quickly. I believe they played from midnight - 2 am. There was still a decent amount of confused people when I left at about 2:30.

The sound was perfect. LOUD, but not annoying. Speakers were setup properly and were not over lapping each another. I believe Collyns did the sound. He walked right by me "looking busy" and went back stage. I don't think he recognized me as I haven't gotten a hair cut in the 2 years since I last saw him. Plus I haven't shaved since April....but that's another story. RELOAD = Collyns??

It was a joke buddy, settle down. That picture is badass and I like Justice whether they play live or not. Good review, venue looks cool and sadly, I think they probably did all have more fun than me Thanks for the reminder, dickhead!

Yet nothing is more annoying than holier-than-thou music snobs that make way too many snarky comments on music websites.

I didn't know there was a large sect of Ed Banger fanatics. I thought everyone giggled equally.
