My This Heat - Deceit record was stolen. Copies go for like 80 buck on ebay now... fuck...
I don't want to talk about it and fuck you for bringing it up.
I've never had an album stolen, and I've never lost one. I've lost plenty of minidisc and mp3 players though
Alive (deluxe edition)...stolen! out of my fuckin car along with all my cds..i haven't even bought another Alive disc because i remain optimistic that cd will return to me someday..but damn...i rocked that album hard for two weeks before it got jacked
Tears in Rain by This Ascension. i used to listen to that thing all the time.

i had a friend who had all her cd's stolen from her car, hundreds of them. one of the funnest things i have ever done was go shopping for new ones after she received a check from her insurance company. ever gone out and spent $1500 on music in one night??? i have and it was epic! of course, that only replaced about half her cd's. thank god for digital back up these days...
I WAS JUST THINKING ABOUT THIS TODAY
nin - still
Pavement's Slanted & Enchanted TWICE. i carried the CD around with me wherever i went and carelessly left behind each copy i owned in public places. thank goodness for mp3 players.
I've had AC/DC's Back in Black stolen twice and Dr. Dre's The Chronic 2001 lifted as well. Boo on my old roomates' shady friends.
it was covered under either her car or homeowners insurance, wasn't specifically for cd's.
so she got money for the CDs even though she had all of it on her computer? that is so cool. did she get all new music or actually try to replace the CDs stolen?
this was in the mid 90's, before everyone backed up their shit. she had to replace the lost ones.
oh when you said thank god for digital backup i assumed she had it backed up. Nevermind that sucks!
I've lost flaming lips-yoshimi... like 3 times.
The White Stripes 9/18
A couple years after I started teaching a student broke into my classroom and stole a couple dozen CD's. The next day I asked each of my classes to keep an ear open and let me know if they heard anything. A couple days passed, and then two girls told me after class a guy on their bus was bragging about swiping some CD's from a teacher. I didn't know the kid, so I just turned in his name to administration, hoping they'd take care of it. Turns out they filed a report with the police, who nabbed the kid and got my CD's back. He ended up having to go to court, and eventually came to my classroom to ask if I'd a write a letter to the judge on his behalf. I wrote it because he was only 15 and I didn't think my Suede and Supergrass CD's were worth more than his future. I think it's really perverse that I still felt guilty when he got probation.
The Cure - Wish
Depeche Mode - Music for the Masses
Weren't really mine, they were my moms, but I took them. Now they are lost forever.

I lost an entire crate of CDs (~200) during a relocation, I have no idea what was in there, so I try not to think about it (and hope it was nothing too great). That upset me less than my friend who borrowed a few CDs from me 8.5 years ago and who still hasn't given him back (I never see him or I'd be reminding him constantly!!!) Trashcan Sinatras - Cake & Happy Pocket, 7 Year Bitch - Sick 'Em, and a Sarah Records compilation that I'm not willing to re-buy for like $60 on eBay.
Basement Jaxx - Rooty, after throwing a throwing a techno party. I guess it serves me right for throwing a "techno" party.
At some point in time a man switches from "I'll have what he's having" to "I'll have what I'm having."
David Bowie - Diamond Dogs - the original press.
