Now that we're coming on year 10, I have noticed that Coachella has maintained such a strong identity in part because, compared to the other major music festivals around the world, very little has changed since the first year, both big things (the lineup & music styles) and small things (the polo fields themselves). For those who went to the older years of Coachella, (I'm keeping this to 99, 01, 02, & maybe even 03) what sort of relatively insignificant, mundane things have changed over time since Coachella started?
And not necessarily big or obvious things like ticket prices, or lineup, or attendance, but things like:
-Layout of the polo grounds
-Set times, set lengths, stages (i.e. did bigger bands ever play Outdoor Theatre? Was there always an Outdoor Theatre?)
-How strict security is/was
-Food selection & price
-How crowded/uncrowded things used to seem
-The overall kinds of people in attendance
Any posts would be appreciated, I'm sadly curious.........
