Maybe you were all teary eyed the first time you saw it on the TV, but ALL FUCKING DAY LONG constant stream of the same damn link on every facebook post and every channel flooded with it. Everybody cry to their fucking selves, or deal with a few people fed up with it after it being shoved down our throats for a whole month.

    fucking christ.

And you didn't even get stuck in traffic for this.

Actually, I was there for it. In person. My office is really close to civic center so I Took a really late lunch break and went to city hall and watched this little dude get handed the key to Gotham City and everything. It was something else. Yeah, I got misty, so what? Watching him in real life fist pumping with the biggest grin on his face was incredible.

Boo fucking hoo that people are posting about a good thing in the news for once. You should be glad for the kid and story, not pissed about the way people are reporting about the story in social media outlets. Focusing on the wrong shit.

Tell us more on how you're angry you were stuck in traffic for this terrible cause.

I mean is it really that terrible you had some traffic today for something like...grant some poor kid with cancer their dying wish?

Usually you wait in traffic for so many other reasons, its really not that bad.

I'm actually surprised at the Make-a-Wish foundation for coming through with something so epic.

Pandora is pretty reasonable. The song selection is far from exhaustive, but the decorated rooms are nice
    11/28 - Dixon - Secret
    12/5 - Gareth Emery - SLS Vegas
12/6 - Heart - House of Blues, Las Vegas
    12/12 - Cat Stevens - Masonic Center
    4/17-4/19 - Coachella weekend 2

I've been to Pandora and they've got a good setup. The scene on the street after closing is as bad as the TL gets tho so if you're with a big drunk group try to have a cab on the way before spilling out.

If you want dinner and sushi (in the same room) I went to a great spot called Sakesan a few months ago. Sushi was great, karaoke machine was just OK.

    disclosure: I fucking hate karaoke.

I haven't been for a couple years (been trying places on the peninsula - have yet to find one that I really like) but I always had a lot of fun at Do Re Mi in Japantown.
12/16/14 Haerts - the Rickshaw Stop
    12/30/14 Flaming Lips w/Foxygen - the Warfield
02/26/15 Tony Molina - the Rickshaw Stop
    04/24/15 Polaris - The Chapel
06/11/15 Neutral Milk Hotel - The Phoenix Theatre

You're mostly likely talking about Market or possibly Mission.
You would hate driving here way more if you could make just any left turn on those streets.

Make three rights. Or take the more appropriate route to get where your going. Or take a bus.

19th/Park Presidio with the no-left turns as well. And traffic would be absolutely atrocious if they allowed for left turns on all of those streets.

Alec: what's the best private room karaoke on the Peninsula you've encountered?

Geography and topography conspire to make this a miserable place to drive regardless left turns.

This is a 100% true, and then you add in density. The fact that the city is only 7 x 7 and it can take over an hour driving to get from one end to the other when there is any sort of traffic is a real bitch.

Yep I drove through downtown for the first time today, and it took me about 10 minutes to go about half a block.

I had a lot of fun at Millbrae Karaoke House on El Camino. The selection was relatively weak but the rooms have A/C, little stages (and monitors on the back of the walls behind the couches so you don't have to have your back to the 'audience' to see the lyrics) and are spacious (I hate those places with narrow rooms that feel like the back of a limousine.)

Pandora looks cool, thanks. We loved that we had a private room karaoke right near us in NY; hoping to find something good here!

Also this place is currently on fire. I was right by there for lunch a couple hours ago.

Live video from the CBS helicopter that makes me want to close my window but it's nice out and the cats like the windows being open.

Whoa that is right across the street from the Grey Area Theater - a new venue for experimental electronic music and art. I am assuming the fire didn't reach it.

I attended a Yuri's Night in a hangar of the NASA Ames Research Center in 2007. It was darn cool and the opportunity to see even more of the facility sounds pretty great:

Moffett Field: NASA Ames to host first open house in 17 years

Tickets are free for the Oct. 18 event. There are two types of tickets, a general admission ticket that every visitor will need and a backstage pass that will admit them to special labs.

The general admission tickets will enable visitors to take a two-mile, self-guided walking tour, demonstrations of technologies invented at the research center, and the opportunity to meet with Ames scientists and engineers.

The backstage passes will admit visitors to one of about 10 specialized labs such as the "20G Centrifuge" and the "Vertical Motion Simulator." The center, with 2,500 employees and contractors at the Moffett Field site, developed and leads the efforts on the Mars Curiosity Rover's Chemistry and Mineralogy instrument or "CheMin," which tests for life-supporting organic compounds and evidence of water on Mars.

Five teams have been selected by the Presidio Trust to design a land bridge park above Crissy Field and released their design concepts today:

All five concepts connect Crissy Field to the Main Post of the Presidio over a pair of tunnels making up the Presidio Parkway (the replacement for the Doyle Drive route to the Golden Gate Bridge to be completed in 2016). Each idea for the 13-acres includes children’s learning spaces, a requirement of the $30 million in gifts secured thus far by the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy. And knowing their audience, several proposals promise food truck access.
    http://www.thebolditalic.com/article...-presidio-park

I'm partial to the design by the Dutch team. I'm sure whatever design is chosen will face an uphill battle from residents, but at least this isn't some silly museum to Lucas.

I received my Voter Information Pamphlet and Sample Ballot and SF local politics seems amazing. How does Terrence Faulkner have such a stranglehold on Opponent's Arguments? He seems to take everything that isn't taken by the Libertarian Party. His story about his grandfather was riveting and quite effective in that I completely forgot what he was arguing against.

The two local propositions that have had significant arguments against have been E (0.02$ per fl oz on sugary beverages) and G (tax on property sold within five years), though for the former the same PAC funded all the Against arguments.

There's nothing about the state elections in here, though.

I feel like half the billboards in this city are covered with anti-E shit. I'm not sure if their $31M revenue estimate already assumes a reduction in consumption of full sugar sodas, but it's just going to drive people towards diet sodas, defeating the spirit of the law.
