The Bay Area has probably had a hundred tiny quakes just this week. There was a 4.1 one in San Jose in January that you should have felt in your hood. Let's not complain about the lack of big earthquakes, k?

Erika and I are at the Milk Bar on Haight St. for the first time. It's a pretty cool bar/venue. So far, it's not bad at all. Insert requisite Stanley Kubick quote here, "I shaved off my beard off."

It really hasn't been as foggy this year, so far, as most that I've seen (this is only my 11th year in SF, but my 8th year living in the foggy side of town). The weather has been a little weird, but I'm certain you'll see a ton of fog later this summer. Usually August evenings are fog so thick you can't see 2 blocks away.


It is incredibly lovely out today. It's barely 60F, yet I'm out on the roof in a tank top with a glass of wine and cigarettes trying desperately to soak up a little sun. Everyone's doing it, too. My neighbors who barely speak English and haven't talked to me in the years we've lived next to each other waved, said hi, raised their glasses, and tried to make small talk about the weather. Lovely.

Hot diggity, what a crazy day we've had. First of all, we drove to the Fenton's in Vacaville for lunch and to hand over our siamese, Tristan, to Erika's Mother for safekeeping while we are in Maui. Then we picked up my best friend, Randy, who recently flew in from Law School at the University of Hawai'i and took him around on our pre-trip errands. After dropping him off at BART, we went into SF for Sushi at Koo and just so happened to run into one of favorite couples dining at the table next to us. After dinner, we went over to the Milk Bar for a nightcap and dancing to 1960s Motown classics. Now, we are slightly intoxicated and packing for our 8 day family vacation in Maui. All of this comes on top of Erika's week of finals at Stanford, two Giants games and two concerts. Let the vacation begin!!!

My friends have reminded me that today is the Tamale Lady's birthday celebration at ZG, and that it should be really, really, really crowded.

I still think I'm going to try to stop by after work (maybe like around 5:30 or 6)? but this combined with the weather might be one of the rare nights where there's a line to get in. :/
