Most of the touristy stuff is in North Beach and the wharf. Also quite a few shopping downtown. The ones that venture throughout the rest of the city are generally crafty enough to not be noticed or are probably reasonably cool, by virtue of their desire to explore the rest of the city.

If you want a good selection of beers, Toronado in the lower Haight is a good bet.

My "home" bar is Elixir ... owned by a Boston transplant, so they always got the Red Sox on.

Also a big fan of Lucky 13 ... they serve Aventinus ... mmmmm.

it docks towards the end of the twin hangars over at moffett. if should be easy to take down at night i would think if you came at it from the back through the marshes.

yeah monk's irritates me a little. They definitely have some rare beers but for the money you could have probably gotten 3 pints of good beer at toronado or some shit.

it does lack character. I suppose the bike racks inside may be very functional, but to me it screams of desperation for a bike crowd in a neighborhood that's not exactly desperate for biker hangouts.
