omg meeeee tooooo!
!!
I dunno what Rage's funds are like but I think he should do Roo next year and Fuji the year after. A sweetass trip to Japan will cost a pretty penny.
Fuck yeah homieslice!
and about The Cure....
I really fucking need them there. at the start of 08 I told myself this is the year I see Beck. 2009 is the year i see the cure. If they play Roo, it would just make everything that much easier.
No complaints but I hope 09 has a better lineup, there was not one headliner this year to get *really* excited about. Thats just me. Jack White needs to be involved somehow, he's a TN resident now and has graced Roo this year and last. why break the cycle?

Oh and Salah, guess who just booked his flight for Miami in January?
you guys gonna make out?
I think, since Rage is planning on getting married summer 2010....he should get married, and have the honey moon in Tokyo, and go to Fuji Rock then....
Bonnaroo 09 is gonna be a priority on my list for next year.... with Bonnaroo and sasquatch being 2 weeks apart, it will be hard to pull off.... but it has been done before, with Pemberton/Lolla which were 5 days apart...
I seriously am still kicking myself for not seeing Metallica/Mstrkrft at the Bonnaroo this year... this year was seriously, my lineup. I can only hope Beastie Boys headline either Coachella, or take Kanye's slot at Bonnaroo...
Money Mark, their keyboardist was at Bonnaroo this year, did anyone see his set?
Upcoming Shows:
Pitchfork Festival: 7/19 @ Union Park
Mountain Oasis Festival: 10/25-27
This year was "your" lineup, Paul? I'm surprised. I don't know, I've seen Kanye and Pearl Jam, both were meh, and I could (and likely will) live the rest of my life happily not seeing Metallica once. I was drawn to Sigur Ros, MMJ, and Raconteurs, but I'd seen them all already this year pre-Roo.
Oh, and I'm excited to escape another hellacious Iowa winter and regain some sanity in a warm climate for a week, partying with Salah and his friends. Excited enough to make out with Salah? Not unless you're in on the action too, Paul.
play some Band of Horses while we look each other in the eye, and maybe ill think about it...
well, by MY lineup, i just mean Metallica...hehe...and Mstrkrft, who are insanely great live. But seriously... Chris Rock, Gogol Bordello, Sigur Ros, talib kweli, mastodon, ghostland...you cant shit on that lineup...
Upcoming Shows:
Pitchfork Festival: 7/19 @ Union Park
Mountain Oasis Festival: 10/25-27
Are you a fan of any jambands Paul? I'm almost positive this year will have The Dead as a headliner, and lots of people think Phish but I'm not so sure. They'll obviously have a heavier rock band and some hip hop/electronic stuff as well. I assume you like STS9? Have you heard Particle, Umphrey's Mcgee or The New Deal? They're more good electronic based jambands who usually play at Bonnaroo.
Umphrey's Mcgee are playin here Thursday night...im quasi tempted.... No, i used to be a Sharing The Groove member and all they talked about was Phish this and Phish that.... and i love their Sabotage cover...got me that...but i havent heard any of their other stuff... ive seen MMJ twice, both times were great, havent heard the studio stuff though. dont know STS9 either... I dont listen to jam bands.... but if u tell me some good ones, ill check them out.
Upcoming Shows:
Pitchfork Festival: 7/19 @ Union Park
Mountain Oasis Festival: 10/25-27
ah..string cheese incident was always a big name during high school...

Pitchfork Festival: 7/19 @ Union Park
Mountain Oasis Festival: 10/25-27
Dude, go to Umph Thursday!!! You do not want to miss it! They are really good live. Check out the album Anchor Drops. They're much heavier than most jambands and more progressive. They aren't afraid to push it to metal territory. Their weakest point by a longshot is their vocals though, but it doesn't really matter because they don't sing much anyway. Isn't the show only like $20? I'm seeing them at HOB Sunset next week. Tea Leaf Green is opening for them there, I assume it's the same for your show, and they really suck, like they really, really blow. That would be a bad first impression of jambands, so I wouldn't worry about arriving a little later just in time for Umph. I highly suggest going to that show. Is it at a decent venue?
nice small 300 cap venue, where ive seen Battles, Silversun Pickups, Simian Mobile Disco...
Upcoming Shows:
Pitchfork Festival: 7/19 @ Union Park
Mountain Oasis Festival: 10/25-27
Is the sound good there? You do not want to miss this show man.
Here's a list of good jambands that I already posted in a different thread:
Particle
RAQ
STS9
The Meters
Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey
Dumpstaphunk
Benevento/Russo Duo
The Radiators
Umphrey's Mcgee
Galactic
Robert Randolph
Soulive
The New Deal
The Flecktones
Medeski, Martin and Wood
The Disco Biscuits
Perpetual Groove
Dirty Dozen Brass Band
Don't make the same mistake lots of people do and listen to studio albums. Listen to their live stuff. There's plenty of quality recordings that are easy to find. Check out Widespred Panic's Bonnaroo 05 Sunday night set. It was by far the best I've seen them play out of the five times I've seen them. Their 07 set wasn't bad either. They covered Fairies Wear Boots. Anyone else on the list on the first post(people who are going to roo 09) who isn't too famailiar with jambands should check out some of this also, just to give you an idea what you'll probably be hearing there next year. All of these bands have played roo in the past at least once and are likely to repeat next year. I'll bet about ten of these bands will be there next year.

Mountain Oasis Festival: 10/25-27
Hahaha Are you serious? The list is endless. I love all kinds of music in every genre. Improvisational stuff isn't even my favorite. I grew up on metal and punk, went through a big hip hop phase and I still listen to tons of it. I've always loved classic rock. I've recently been getting into electronic stuff. I don't know where to stop. My favorite band ever is the Pixies, followed by Tool, Radiohead, STP, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Outkast, Nirvana and the Talking Heads.
Unfortunately, I didn't go to roo last year, big fucking mistake. I moved to LA and I didn't have money for a plane ticket plus the money I would spend on a ticket and everything there, after Coachella. I didn't plan it out ahead of time. I used to just drive from Cincinnati. I'm never missing another one though. Let me know what you think of Umph.

you should seriously do HARD man... Asobi Seksu will be around for quite a bit. while all these electronic acts in one place.... it will be somethin you dont wanna miss. Boys Noize into Justice? Soulwax and SMD aswell? its gonna be a huge party.
Ok, im grabbing Anchor Drops and Local Band Does OK....that one any good?
Upcoming Shows:
Pitchfork Festival: 7/19 @ Union Park
Mountain Oasis Festival: 10/25-27
Eh ... it's ok. Just listen to Anchor Drops. I told you jamband studio albums aren't any good. They're really not, AD is a unique exception. They're just not a good representation of their sound since the whole point is extended improvisation and the studios want to break the songs down in short little 3-5 minute ditties and that's just not the style of the genre. Download live shows instead.
As far as HARD goes, I just don't think I have the money right now. There's just too many other can't miss shows for me coming up. However, I'm more than down to party with you guys afterwards. You and Calmerthanyou and everyone else who's going are welcome to my place but I guess there's some afterparties downtown so I could just meet up with you guys there. I always have dank buds on me. My brother is also going to be in town so we'll definitely be partying.
aight.... hey, there are no seeds on Demonoid for the cd... and nothing on isohunt.com.... can u find me a link for the Anchor cd? What part of LA you in for an afterparty? man... if Hard goes till 4am, the afterparties are gonna be going till at least 9am...
Upcoming Shows:
Pitchfork Festival: 7/19 @ Union Park
Mountain Oasis Festival: 10/25-27
No dice on the link. Sorry, I bought the cd at a show of theirs. I live in Venice (about a 15 minute drive from downtown) and you guys can party there if you want but I'm sure all of the actual afterparties will be downtown, that's where the venue is right? AS is in Echo Park which isn't far from downtown but that will end way before hard. Who knows, I might go to hard right after AS. I'm waiting for set times.
damn, i just bought Boys Noize tix for Nov 21st here in Van.... sweet jesus.
send me a text if you're on your way to hard.
Ill keep lookin for some of those other jam band stuff.
Upcoming Shows:
Pitchfork Festival: 7/19 @ Union Park
Mountain Oasis Festival: 10/25-27
im feelin the music, its fine.... not feelin the vocals though...
Upcoming Shows:
Pitchfork Festival: 7/19 @ Union Park
Mountain Oasis Festival: 10/25-27
I can't stand Umphree's McGee, but while I was waiting in line to met Gogol Bordello at Vegoose 07, I watched STS9 and they were pretty damn good. Im not really into jam bands... The Dead would not excite me at all. I actually don't really know any Phish, but I would be stoked to see them. C'mon. Its Phish! Also, I think The Dead, Phish and NIN will all be at Bonnaroo next year.
I"m in for Bonnaroo.![]()
Upcoming Shows:
Sasquatch Festival
On the fence. I will need a second job I think.
I want to go one of these years, but I dont think this is the year especially so if Phish is headlining.
The White Stripes 9/18
I know so little about Phish and that fest would be the perfect introduction for me. If I got bored I could wander. Lsd and bonnaroo sounds like a good wonderful time. If I can't afford it maybe you all can pitch in for me. Thanks.
I like your lineup Tommy, Bears game, Calexico and NIN. Sweet.
