Courtney, please describe in detail your sexual relationships with fellow board members and the respects in which they/you failed to deliver.

We'd have a higher combined batting average if we picked the same songs from a couple of albums. If I had a bonus 1985 I would pick "Here Comes A Regular." The 2000s were easy for me; the earlier years made me think much harder.

I join his clan. From my experience meeting his friends at Coachella, he appears to have several badass associates who would lead me hand-in-hand into battle. And plus, I'm a wimp and would have no chance of survival on my own. I can be in charge of the militia canteen where I will grow our own food and prepare it to nourish our warriors from the safety of our locked compound.

I'm honored to be a part of such a well thought out team.

Recycling questions from last time out of laziness:

Tell us about some thoughts that have run through your head that have profoundly disturbed you.

What do you consider the most selfless act you've ever committed was? Most cruel?

What is your best case scenario for your life at age 60?

This really depends on the day of the week. I tend to oscillate between more traditional picks (The Maltese Falcon, Vertigo) and less traditional (The Royal Tenenbaums, Memento) depending on my mood. And, when I just want to put something on in the background that I know every word to, I have no shame about playing my guilty pleasure favorites (Heathers, Clueless, Almost Famous).

He was in 8th grade, and from my memory a very cute and charming British boy would write me letters that our friends would pass for us in between classes. He kissed me behind the bathroom pavilion in the outdoor lunch area of our school, and I remember drawing hearts on my binders for weeks. Sadly, it ended abruptly when I received a perfect score on my honors English class' Romeo and Juliet quiz, and he failed his.

I have a couple pieces of furniture from my great grandmother from the 1880s or 1890s. They are at my parents' house because I don't trust myself with moving them around and not damaging things. One is from a pair of secretary desks. The other half of the pair is in some furniture vault at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. It's not special enough to actually be put on display, but it is old and unique enough that they accepted it as a donation sometime in the 1970s.

My initial reaction would be to tell the Rolling Stones to stop making music after Tattoo You in 1981. But what difference does it make? It's not like their mediocre later albums cause me to enjoy their earlier classics any less. And moreover, the fact that they keep on making music means they keep on touring which means I have the opportunity to hear their perform from their whole catalog. So I guess my answer to the question would be nobody.

I really really wish I could say that I would rather be the world's best villain, but I just don't think I have it in me. I would feel all guilt-ridden and wouldn't be able to enjoy my awesomeness and instead spend most of my time attempting to morally justify things and apologize.

So I'd be happy being the world's worst superhero. Maybe I could have some lame superpower like being able to help plants grow or being super bendy. I wouldn't be able to stop any villains, but at least I would have a beautiful garden and be very impressive in yoga class.

Best: I haven't been reading a lot recently, but I did very much enjoy a short book of prose poems by Baudelaire that I finished back in January. I learned both French and German in school, but I don't have the opportunity to utilize either very frequently, so I try to read at least a couple books in each language each year to keep my brain from completely atrophying. And, you can't really go wrong with Baudelaire.

Worst: This is a toss up between Lady Chatterly's Lover (seriously, painfully bad) and The Blushing MBA, a horribly-written account of one woman's recent experience getting an MBA at Dartmouth.

This is a tough question. I honestly have no clue. I had no big *a ha* moment reading 1984 that made me want to protest big government, or something like that. I guess perhaps The Great Gatsby, because I read it during high school where the culture was particularly relevant to the novel, and the themes of wealth and isolation did strike a chord.

I would like to have tea with Gabriel Garcia Marquez. He seems like a kindly grandfather. We would sit and put clotted cream on our scones while discussing politics, family and love.

Ha, I found them all quite difficult. And yes, I also did consider Here Comes A Regular, but it didn't make the cut.

In a single paragraph, please describe the appeal of Mark Rothko's work, along with your personal opinion.

Who are your top 5 favorite artists, and what is your favorite piece from each respectively?

Two all time favorite photographs? One taken by you, and one taken by someone else.

What is your favorite piece of architecture?

I sometimes think about killing myself. Not in an emo "oh my life sucks" sort of way, but more just as a "what if." What if I stepped off this highrise building roof? What if I drove my car into a wall? What if I swam out into the ocean as far as I could swim, and then just never came back? What would it feel like? Would it hurt? Would I be glad that it was all over? Would I be glad to just turn back into nothingness?

Quote Originally Posted by SoulDischarge View Post

Most selfless: I saved my friend from dying by taking him to the hospital when he was overdosing and everyone else ditched him because they didn't want to get in trouble. But I feel like that's not even that selfless -- that's just the only humane choice to make. Alternately, I drove from New York to Boston and stayed up all night coaxing a friend through a nervous breakdown and then drove back the next morning to take the GRE exam so I could get into grad school, even thought I was sure that having no sleep would completely destroy my chances of getting a good score.

Most cruel: When I was younger, I was extremely annoyed that my little sister existed. I was five years old when she was born, and I went from getting 100% of my parents' attention to getting about 20% of it. She was a difficult young child, never sleeping through the night and frequently throwing tantrums, so that resentment continued well into elementary school. I regret that while growing up, when she used to try to hug me, I would tell her "You're weird!" and push her away. I did this for years. Looking back on it, it seems incredibly cruel to push away someone who only wanted to be loved by her older sibling who she looked up to. I will always regret that.

At age 60, I would like to see myself healthy and happy. Ideally, I would be living somewhere beautiful, perhaps the Amalfi Coast, surrounded by a big family including a significant other I adored and who adored me, and lots of generations of kids and grandkids, whether they were ours or our siblings' children. I would spend my days with a brisk swim in our pool first thing each morning, followed by breakfast on the patio with my significant other, enjoying delicious coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice, and a selection of international newspapers. I would then spend the morning on volunteering projects, perhaps a fundraiser for a local art museum or symphony. At lunchtime, I would meet with my best friends who all lived nearby, and get caught up on what they were up to and talk about nothing in particular. In the afternoons, I would walk about town, browsing the local bookstore and picking up anything that looked good. I would go to the local farmer's market and pick up the most beautiful produce and chat with all the local farmers to find out what's coming in and what's good. I would then return home, pour myself some sort of delicious cocktail, put on a wonderful record, and take my time making the most delicious, fresh and healthy meal. My family would come and we would all sit and talk and eat.

You used "significant other" instead of "husband" twice. Is this due to not believing in the institution of marriage, not being concerned with whether a boyfriend becomes a husband, or because there's a potential for the significant other to be a woman?

For events like big parties, I tend to look through cookbooks and find intricate, impressive recipes, but honestly for day-to-day stuff I prefer to cook very simply with quality fresh ingredients. My favorite meal to cook is probably just a super-basic roasted whole chicken stuffed with whatever I have on hand (usually lemons and rosemary, but it varies). For sides, I'll do a baby greens salad with some delicate local Manoa lettuce or maybe pak choi from my garden, dressed with some good quality olive oil and a squirt of lemon juice. Add a crusty baguette and I'm one happy diner. For desert, I might have a local mango or papaya, sliced and squirted with lime. I know that's not terribly exciting, but it's how I tend to cook in my daily life because I find it to be simple, easy and very satisfying.

I feel a little guilty admitting that this is actually a really easy decision for me. I would save my mother. My mother and I are very close. I probably consider her as much friend as family. She has been there for me every single time I have ever had a problem or needed anything, and has made so many selfless decisions to help me in any way she can. I can't even imagine how I will ever go on with my life if/when she ever dies -- I will seriously freak out and not be able to function.

I love my father, but I have a more difficult relationship with him. He is a very hard worker and has very clear strong ethics, which I admire, but he is also sometimes a hard person to have as a dad. He holds everyone around him to a very high standard, and if they do not succeed he will refuse to accept that failure. He is very decisive but if he decides he doesn't like someone, or if he decides you are making the wrong decision, he will rarely change his mind and will often make things very difficult. He also hates medical stuff, and so whenever I have been sick he pretty much ignores that it's happening and doesn't talk to me. As someone who has been dealing with major clinical depression off and on since I was 16, his refusal to face the things like that have made it very difficult for me to have an open, honest relationship with him. He also tends to drink too much and become badgering and mean in the evenings.

Courtney, if you could create a new word and it's meaning, what would you choose? For example, epindary (adj) - epic and legendary. That concert was epindary, bro.
