She added the phrase "meany head" to my profile.I hardly think I'm an attention whore.
Richard Hell & the Voidoids
Black Flag
The Dead Boys
the Plasmatics
Bad Brains
Dead Kennedys
Social Distortion and Husker Du were around by 1979 but probably not in a position to have realistically been signed, so I didn't count them.
I know I left a lot out but you said 6.
Tom, how much would I have to pay you to sleep with Brokendoll?
I'm a reasonable man, get off my case....
i had originally put down "How much would I have to pay you to sleep with me?" but then I decided that was creepy so I changed it. For the record I mean no disrespect toward Beverly I just like poking a little fun at her. $1000.
Wow, that's pretty low. I'm pretty sure we can all conjure that up for ya.
If there's Coachella to be had, I'm gonna have it
Do you find yourself buying new or used? If you buy used do you ever wonder how much jizz, fecal matter, or dead hooker blood may be on said used item?
What one book do you think should be required reading for every student?
What is your favorite smell?
Why haven't you and your family come to visit Hawaii/me?
tom,
describe your favorite childhood memory.
a quality you feel is important for everyone to have. And why?
and what artist or band has had the most significant impact in music? And why?
I assume you mean literature, and by student I assume you mean high schooler. To Kill a Mockingbird still seems like a pretty good choice to me, though maybe it comes across as more dated than when I read it? though you know, maybe something less americentric is what's needed -- One Hundred Years of Solitude would be a good choice for skilled students. Not sure about the rest of them though.
The desert after it rains.
Well we've done part of that. Did I know you then?
We did To Kill A Mockingbird in school - about eight years ago - and I don't believe that book has aged a day since it was written.
Proudest memory of the last five years?
- Am I weird? I don't look back on my childhood fondly, but I don't look back on it unfondly either. The romantic notion of 'favorite childhood memory' isn't part of my experience.
So here's my weirdest childhood memory instead. According to my brain's recollection, this actually happened, though of course it did not. When I was about 4, i stood at the top of the stairs, looking down. And I decided I could fly. So I jumped, and tumbled, slowly, slowly, in the air, carefully, over, over, and then landed gently on my feet at the base of the stairs, intact. My 4 year old brain (or rather, my memory of my 4 year old brain) thought 'that was really cool' and shrugged it off and found something else to do.
- I think everyone should be more patient. Myself included. Especially me. There's such an "I WANT IT NOW" mindset in the US (and maybe other cultures). Give me convenience or give me death.
- I'm going to interpret your last question to mean 'rock music' or 'pop music' and not music in general, cuz then we'd have to go back to things like Bach. I don't think any one band has had any more impact on where pop music is today than the Beatles. That's a tired answer, I know, but I cant' think of a better one.
Tom, what's your retirement plan? When did you start thinking about it? How has your plan changed since then?
If there's Coachella to be had, I'm gonna have it
Tom, give is a your thoughts on Roger Ebert.
I'm a reasonable man, get off my case....
Several months ago I was named to an important office at work. Now I know that seems boring as hell, and it wasn't really a promotion (no money involved) but it reflects a level of trust and respect from my peers that still makes me .. well it makes me go uhhhhhhh. The fact that I respect, admire, and actually like about 90% of this group makes it all the more significant to me.
I'm also proud of the way my daughters have turned out. They're 19 and 15 now and they're good human beings that I am proud of.
I'm enjoying Tom's wisdom.
What would your last meal be?
