and ive never heard of such a thing- you must realize the gay "community" in tucson isnt like it is in a place like san diego, LA, san francisco or new york.

the gays here are a little more stuck in the past i think. not as progressive of a scene as i see when i travel.

Well, we are making ridiculous leaps and bounds here. I'm an undergraduate theatre student. But, I'll play. I think Emmys don't really affect careers. Tonys and Oscars can.

I'll go with an Oscar. Best Actor.

My fellow nominees would be:

1. Peter O'Toole with his 12th nomination. That's right, I won't finally let him win the Oscar as he approaches his final years.
   
2. Sean Penn in something socially progressive and a bit smug.

I've worked at every kind of restaurant:
Fast Casual (Pei Wei)
Casual (A Brewery/Restaurant)
Fine Dining (California Cuisine at a Resort)

My last food service job (which ended a month ago) was at:
Fine Dining (Indian)


Most horrific experience:
I had a gentleman who asked me if there were going to be any "God damn Mexicans" preparing his meal. I assured him there were not (most them were Guatemalan.)

When I brought his meal out, he looked down at it, looked back up at me and then picked the plate up and hurled it at me and screamed something unintelligible about Mexicans. I ducked and the plate hit the (empty, thank goodness) table behind me. Hotel security was then nice enough to escort this gentleman out of the restaurant and then accompany him to his room as he collected his belongings and checked out early.


Pet Peeves:

• Servers who use the phrase "Are you still working on that?"
• Servers -- or even worse -- food runners who pick up a well cleaned plate and say "Oh! You must have really hated that one!"
• Servers who get overly familiar with their guests. You should always be friendly and cordial, but above all professional.
• Servers who interrupt intense conversations.
• Servers who rush guests.
• Servers who always recommend the most expensive entree/wine.
• Servers who don't know what is in each entree. Unforgivable!
• Servers who don't anticipate the needs of their guests.
• Servers who revist the table too frequently or not frequently enough.
• Servers who are not well groomed.
• Servers with bad breath.
• Servers who do not treat their food runners and bussers well.

Most Memorable Tip:
$200 Cash on a $300 ticket from an incredibly friendly, warm businessman from Dallas. He'd just completed a very profitable deal and was out to celebrate with his business partner. He would have been a pleasure to serve on just a regular 20% tip.

I certainly wouldn't tell people how to observe a holiday, but I do think candlelight vigils would be a lovely way to remember Harvey. There aren't enough Zoroastrian agaris (temples) in the US for people to visit them, but still, that could be something. A sort of open house at which one could learn about the culture, religion, cuisine, customs, etc. I dunno... sounds a bit we are the worldish.

Which performances from this year's Coachella were your highlights? If you did not attend, please tell us about your highlights from the last Coachella you attended.

Off the top of my head, I was a huge fan of seeing Paul McCartney. He put on a great show with an awesome (at least the second half) set list. I really, really loved him. Also, most of Day 3 wiped me out. Seeing Vivian Girls>No Age>Fucked Up, then Antony>Yeah Yeah Yeahs>MBV>Throbbing Gristle was a really astounding and fantastic day of music. That was easily the best single Coachella day I've had since I started going in 2004.

Do you think the California Constitution is too easily amended? Why or why not?

Most definitely. It seems like the California Constitution, along with the legislature and quite a few of the other legal systems in the state, have become bloated and untenable because of a large swatch of interest groups, lobbyists and general people with money all wanting their hand in the pot. It's happened for much too long, and we need to step back as a state and figure out how to return to a functioning level of government. It doesn't seem like that's possible under the current system.

In recent years, The US Supreme Court has begun to allow audio recordings of court proceedings. Do you think the court should also televise their proceedings?

I don't see any problems with that, and I think it'd actually be very useful for the court, law makers and people interested in studying the law itself. It'd be nice to have a visual record of the proceedings.

What was it like growing up in Mono County?

I loved it. Full disclosure, I moved up to the area when I was 13, so I didn't have my formative early experiences there, but nevertheless I think of that as my home. I actually did more of my growing up in Inyo county, for what it's worth, as I claim to be from Bishop, and I went to school at BUHS. But, the living experience is largely the same. I got very used to not having access to large areas of culture that other people would in the city. We have a K-Mart and a Vons, and those are the two places that people did most of their shopping. Instead, we have nature abounding. There was always opportunity for hiking, fishing, skiing, off-roading, swimming in the river and just general outdoors activities. I was never an active kid, but I did grow to love always having something to do that didn't cost money and that was more creative than what I wind up doing down here. I don't have tons of friends from home, as our interests drifted pretty greatly once I moved, but the few I do are really great, and people always love to come visit my parents place because it's in such a beautiful area.

It's a decent way of life. I've never known any other, but people always seem to respond well to the name, so I can't complain about it.

I love a good Old Fashioned, but if the bar knows how to make them, I'll always get either a Moscow Mule or a Dark and Stormy.

I feel like I was pretty standard. 16, parents were away and the kids will play. I don't really have any exciting sexual stories, I've not done things that would turn your world, and, as I'm fatter than I'd like to be and as a result tend to think that people wouldn't want to be with me the way I am right now, I'm not incredibly active currently.

whats the most embarassing guilty pleasure on your itunes?

I've got tons of music, and, as a result, tons of guilty pleasure-ish stuff. As far as things I listen to regularly? Maybe Eddie Money

do you play any instruments?

I play guitar and bass, neither very well, although I've been making great strides on the guitar in the past year. They're great ways to relax.
