Probably The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis because as a child I loved books that started in the regular world and had a portal to a fantasy world.

I have a BA in English from ASU that I don't really use in my current job -- I only need a high school education to work here. I am not currently going to school, and I am not interested in schooling at this point in my life. It's hard enough ushering my kids through school right now. Maybe later. I would answer yes to the last question.
