You're much better looking than Seth Rogen; aim higher, Cubby!
Sore point for me! I feel like such a dunce for just knowing one language. When you travel abroad you realize how many people speak at least two languages. My parents spoke 3, but never passed that down to my brother and me. Earlier this month I was asking the board for opinions on Rosetta Stone, but I just found out that my new school has a mandatory language requirement for all 4 years. I'm very happy about that. I have to choose my language within the next two weeks and I'll be studying it for all four years. I have a choice of Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portugese, Russian or Chinese. I'm deciding between Spanish and French. Any advice? Naturally, I understand that Spanish is perhaps more practical in the US, but beyond that, any thoughts?
I'll try to come up with some better questions later this week. Until then...
- With your interest in foreign languages are there any foreign authors, composers, musicians, filmmakers, artists you gravitate toward? Anyone you'd like to bring to the board's attention?
- Did you attend Coachella this year? If so, what were your highlights?
- Do you like your man beards wild and unruly or neat and trimmed?
- You're on a hot date. It's going well. Then he totally fucks up and you know this will not work out. Tell us some things a guy could do/say on a date that would be a... dealbreaker!
If you had a day of watching movies which ones would you choose?
coachella of course is the best festival ive been to. but the only ones ive been to are...
Coachella
Vegoose
All Points West
Warped Tour (does this even count?)
least favorite was probably APW just cause it didnt have much of a festival feel. it was in its first year, and i only went to the first night to see Underworld and Radiohead. it was cold and rainy and a strange experience.
Vegoose in 07 was rad though- Daft Punk of course took the cake but the whole experience was fun. i guess that was my first festival....
...and warped tour i went to in like 2001. but i did get to see NOFX, Bad Religion, Lagwagon, Flogging Molly and some other pretty fun acts that im not really crazy about these days but in those days it was a big deal.
making out with a college girl in her dorm room in our underpants while i was still in high school...

i still think seth is way cuter. but thank you.
im SOOOOOOOO glad you asked my opinion on this!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay i must start by saying... dont pick Spanish. sure its helpful in the US but you will have plenty of opportunities to pick up spanish living in the US without having to learn it at Juliard- pick something more exciting!!!!. If youre that fascinated with it, do it, but dont cop out and do Spanish just cause it seems like the most useful and applicable, you will probably kick yourself for it later.
Italian would be helpful because it is similar enough to Spanish that you could figure your way through a conversation. Portuguese too.
French would be a good choice. English has a lot of French influence that came in when Old English became Middle English. Its where English developed phonemes like that final sound in the word "garage" or the first phoneme in "genre".
Russian is really interesting- they use a lot of consonant clusters, and you are getting away from the indo-european language family which is neat. Just know that youll have some difficulty pronouncing a lot of things at first due to the phonology of the language- they allow many more consonants to group together than in English. Russian syllabification has always been fun to me for that reason hehehe.
Chinese they say will be really helpful- its true many people speak it. But youre going to be really tied up with your studies- beware that taking Chinese in school will NOT make your life any easier. The writing system is one issue with learning it as an adult- its just damned hard. Secondly, its a tonal language. Our English speaking brains dont pick out the differences in tone for tonal language words- and this can be frustrating only because we arent trained to recognize these differences... for example the word "ma" can mean up to 5 or 6 different things and the difference is the pitch of your voice while you say it. .....but if youre up for something really challenging- take Chinese
And of course im biased, i think you should take German (my minor is in German Studies).... german is a fun language and it is pretty simple to learn. You get to use velar fricatives.... and case agreement, yay! German and English are both West-Germanic languages so German is generally pretty easy for English speakers to learn. And then you can go on and learn Dutch pretty easily after that.
oh and ill get to the rest of your questions you asked later. im sleepy.

Hrmmmm this is a hard question to answer really. Theres a good turkish ska band called Athena. Ummm as a german student i read a lot of Göthe. Im currently taking a course called The History of German Cinema... we watched Nosferatu this week, next week we're watching Metropolis. errrr this isnt a question i feel like i can answer all that well right now though. maybe im just not in the mood for it.
this year? Beirut, The Cure, MBV, Cloud Cult, TV on the Radio, yeah yeah yeahs.
thats a hard question. I like both, depends on the guy wearing it i suppose. but some sort of facial hair is a must
on a date with me... DO NOT!...
-ask if im a top or a bottom, or claim he only does one or the other. shut up! that stuff comes later and if you really restrict yourself to one, we wont get along.
-admit to shaving any part of your body
-say you couldnt date a bartender because of jealousy
-only listen to top 40 music
-talk about your ex the whole night
-expect me to pay for everything. i will GLADLY pay for everything as long as youre modest about it.
-tell me id be "so much hotter if you lost 15 pounds"
-act like a queen
-do drag
-admit to hooking up with people in bookstores/on craigslist
-talk crap about your friends
-refer to everyone youve ever dated as "psycho"... maybe youre just psycho.
-think youre talking 'sexy' to me and say a word like "boy/man-pussy"
....i guess this list makes me sound too picky. but its all shit thats happened to me that drives me up the wall. it could be a little superficial. im sorry.
and theres more than annoys me that makes this date OVER! but i cant think of it right now

Cubrocker,
Have yóu ever had gotten into a confrontation with someone who is extremely homophobic? If so, can you give details on what went down?
Cubrocker,
I am going to delete Les in a bit (since he didn't really give me permission to post his pics...). You get a look at him?
Although it might not seem like it, that's not all there is to craigslist. Just sayin'.
Tell us about the last time you really cried. What are some of the funniest things to have happened in your bar. Aside from dying, what are you most afraid of about getting old? What are you most looking forward to?
And Seth Rogan can be pretty fuckable at times, but others he's completely meh.

only a couple times
i had a boss once when i worked at applebees that made all kinds of anti-gay comments- calling the guys that worked there '***' and whatnot- i was the only homo working there though and im not sure if he knew or not. either way it was really inappropriate for the work place.
also had a guy at a house party once keep saying things that were really inappropriate. i told him to be careful cause he didnt know who was listening. he made another snide remark and i was drunk enough to tell him id whoop his ass if he said another thing- and he shut up real quick.
my dad has issues with it. hes pretty conservative and catholic. he says some mean shit sometimes but i avoid much contact with him anyway.
other than that i get the straight guys who dont know a single gay person other than me and they remind me constantly that theyre "cool with it even though" or tell me i "dont seem that gay".... to the point that it just gets on my nerves. lets talk about something else please, lol. thanks "bro"

last time i cried was singing to a song in my car and i was just having a weird day- but it wasnt a sad cry, so that doesnt really matter. i was just all teary. i think the last time i just broke down was probably over stress. just a big ball of emotions fell out of me because i had so much stress pent up inside me and it all kinda fell out in a sloppy mess.
funniest things to happen in my bar? When you think of gay men fighting you think of queeny bitches. But let me tell you some of these older leather guys can be just was catty. otherwise theres a bartender i work with on the weekends that i have a good work chemistry with- we just crack each other up all night long. umm ive have crappy things happen- like an old man coming in and crapping all over the toilet and leaving his poopy socks and underpants in the trashcan. that wasnt very funny when i had to smell it/clean it up. what else? oh just tonight i had someone offer to stay and jerk off while i closed up and watched. i declined- everyone in the bar seemed to wanna take this guy home but he just wasnt really my type and i wasnt thinking about much other than getting home and into bed.
my fear about getting old is being alone. im always worried im going to spend the rest of my life single.
but i am looking forward to looking back and seeing all the cool shit ive accomplished. and im looking forward to people not saying to me anymore "oh youre just a pup"

lets consider offense and defense.
the cashews are tastier and more pleasant looking and tasting- so theyre probably a mean fight.... but the almonds have more defense- theyre stronger, sturdier, harder, tougher... but they taste like poo-poo
the almond will probably win even though i prefer cashews.
...you cant have it all i guess.
