So, I just got my tickets to the Wiltern show in L.A. at the end of August. Their tour dates trickle out slower than molasses.

They're playing Atlanta before I move and L.A. after I move. Sometimes life isn't fair.

Oh wait, they are playing Outside Lands. I forgot. I'll just let them be their awesome epic festival-band selves and watch them there.

I saw them at Sasquatch and Lollapalooza. The Sasquatch set is one I still can't stop talking about. It was quite a moment. The lolla set was riddled with some sound problems for the first half of the show. I'm looking forward to this one a LOT. Joel is also coming to this one John.

Some recent set lists. Much hasn't changed for the past two years from what I hear as far as their set lists go and that's ok with me so far since I have only seen them twice.

Here's their two 9:30 Club shows from recently.

    Sunday, May 24 late show:

    Daugthers of the Soho Riots
    Mistaken For Strangers
    Squalor Victoria
    Ada
    Brainy
    Secret Meeting
    Wasp Nest
    All the Wine
    Racing Like a Pro
    Abel
So Far Around The Bend (skipped)
    Vanderlyle Crybaby
    Slow Show
    Apartment Story
    Runaway
    Mr. November

    Start A War
    Fake Empire
    Blood Buzz

Blood Buzz was on the setlist as the opener, with Runaway as the closer of the encore, but they seemed to change last second, as the setlist has a lot of marker corrections.

    Monday, May 25th:

    Runaway
    Start A War
    Mistaken For Strangers
    Brainy
    Secret Meeting
    Baby, We'll Be Fine
    Slow Show
    Vanderlylle Crybaby
    Squalor victoria
    Abel
    Ada
    So Far Around The Bend
    Apartment Story
    Green Gloves
    Fake Empire

    City Middle
    Mr. November
    Blood Buzz

    OMG I ADORE this band.

A norwegian photographer got me into their music and I saw them live in Coachella 08. I entirely love all their albums!!!

Ada must be my fav. song and Start a War.

Geese of Beverly Road, All the Wine and Slow Show are up there for me. I love almost all of their stuff yet I had trouble getting through "A Skin a Night" the dvd. It may have been a mood thing though.

I remember being very sad when they announced that the National was having auto problems...I think. (their van/bus/whatever was having difficulty right?) But being very happy with the new set time at Sasquatch. And I was there for that video you posted just enjoying a little further back.

Less than two weeks to the show at the Wiltern!

I can't wait. Opening the show is Cass Mccombs. No clue who that is.

I'm really excited too. I plan on getting to the venue real early to ensure a wristband for the floor.

Cass Mccombs is pretty chill. Opened for Jose Gonzalez a year or two ago. I would recommend getting there in time to see them.

How early do you recommend? I would also like a wrist band for the floor. In fact I won't be happy if I don't get one.

    More good stuff.

i don't know. this band's entire catalogue is just.. meh. they seem like they put a lot of feeling into their music, but all of their songs have the same dry baritone vocals and they never seem to transition into anything that exciting. Mr. November is the only song of theirs i like. i saw them at Street Scene 08 and it was a pretty good set, but i just remember going from this to MAN MAN.. and if you've been to both of their live shows, you'd know why
    The National bores me.

    meh..

I think I'm planning on getting there at least an hour before doors. Its really hard to tell what is best on the weekends though, since nobody has work and can get there earlier.

No, not really a lot. In fact I haven't been to Southern Claifornia since February 2008 and that was for Legoland.

Just printed out my tickets. I am trying to keep low expectations for this show. I went in with crazy high expectations at lollapalooza last year and was slightly dispointed mostly in the sound, not the band.

A nice full set is going to be great for a change.

They were excellent when i saw them a few weeks back. Matt Berninger puts on a much better show when he's drunk.

Yep, he's very stiff and nervous as fuck otherwise, I have noticed. The drinks really loosen him up. I'm gonna hope he's had a few.

I'm also gonna hope for Geese of Beverly Road.
