i should upload my "sponsor me" video from back in the day. its pretty sweet for a few kids just messin around.
Let's go on a livin' spree!
It's been snowing in Mammoth the past few days. My parents are thinking that it's going to be a long, cold and wet winter, so it should be a pretty awesome season. If it gets anything like 1996, I'd consider just up and moving home to be there and ski every day. When I was in high school, we'd go to the mountain 60-70 times a season. I miss those days, and those cheap lift tickets ($3 for local students.)
what is this "snow" you speak of?

Blunted on the lift...

I spend a week shredding powder in Big Sky MT every January. The rest of my boarding is done in Big Bear...not quite as epic, but still fun.
I can't wait.

BADASSS!!!
i am nowhere near awesome enough for a picture like that. it sucks because i normally go with people who are even worse than i am, so i feel like i don't get all that much better when i go. i like going with people who are better than me, because i'm less afraid to take risks. that's the big problem, i'm sure i could keep going faster, but i also could break my neck, lol. maybe it's time for me to take a lesson to really polish my skills.
here's my one favourite picture, but i think i was about to stop because i was so close to the edge of the fucking cliff. this is in st. moritz, in the swiss alps:
AND JUST LOOK AT ALL THOSE MOUNTAINS, HOLY SHIT!
and i would be down for a whistler trip. hell, even a colorado or socal trip somewhere; i'm not too familiar with socal mountains though and i've only been to durango in colorado.
I hate this thread... It makes me want to go boarding soooo bad.
If people went up to Mammoth for a weekend, I'd go meet up, cuz I've got a place to stay and all that jazz.
I need to find some pictures of me actually skiing. My parents have a few of me doing slalom races, which are pretty cool, but I don't think I have a whole ton.
That's me with the UCLA ski team right before we did swimsuit run. I'm flashing the metal horns
Yeah after going to Mammoth, Big Bear is just made that much more awful
Nevermind.
The only thing that keeps me going back to Snow Summit is that I can be home for dinner. If you stay off the main runs, it can be fun. Plus, if there's still ice on my birthday (April 13) I get to slide on it for free!
I would love to take a Mammoth trip. I pass by there every year in September on my way home from Yosemite. It's still a little early then...
It's kind of like riding a bike. The faster you go, the easier it is to stay up. Deep Pow Pow doesn't hurt either!
The biggest problem with Mammoth is their extremely high ticket prices. I have seriously cut down on my skiing int he past two years because I haven't had a season pass.
On the plus side, Angelenos, Alaskan Airlines is going to start winter service to Mammoth. Supposed to be 90 dollars one way, and it'll getcha from LAX to the little Mammoth landing strip, which they were seriously working on this summer. It's awesome for me because now if I wanna visit my parents, I can just fly instead of drive.
i'd be down for mammoth. i only get to really go on a big trip once a year, so tickets wouldn't be a big deal to me. i also like going somewhere new every year. so far, i've done:
- sunrise in arizona
- purgatory/durango in colorado
- flagstaff in arizona
- whistler in canada
- st. moritz in switzerland
how far is mammoth from la?
Plus on any given day there are no more than 3 CHP roaming the roughly 200 miles from Mojave to Bishop, and another 2 between bishop and mammoth, so speeding is really easy. Do the drive at night and you'll get to mammoth in 4 hours no problem. The roads can get really icy though, so there's that.
yeah, but only once you pass bishop... (on the ice tip)
The drive home during the day on sunday (or whenever you leave) is amazingly beautiful.
OH: and make sure you go the speed limit in the towns, not even a mile above. they make all their revenue from speeding tickets..
I have two snowboards, 1 is a Burton Custom that has still has a $520 price tag on it it is green and beautiful! I've never been snowboarding...
