It's 4.30am, I have sarcasm failure.
No. No you shouldn't. The internet needs you to stay up and talk about how awesome Arcade Fire are. That's not done enough. That can never be done enough.
I'd love to see them there this year, but next year makes more sense and will probably fit into their album release schedule better. Friday headliner 2010.
Personally, I'd be happy if they were there every year.
Can they headline if we count the EP, then...?
There is a big difference between Coldplay headlining right before their third album, because they got ALOT of radio play and are popular. That matters when picking a headliner, and AF is not even close in their popularity level, no matter what the fan boys think.
Also, "fan boy"? Are they Star Wars?
He's getting on a bit though. He needs somebody to keep the stage warm while he takes a moment, to complain about the size of portions nowadays, or chase kids off his lawn. You know how it is.
I love the Arcade Fire... but 2009 would be too soon.... especially, where would u put them? They subheadlined in 07...they next thing would be headlining...and that sure as fuck aint happening.
Kasabian/Bo Ningen: 10/1 @ Metro
Coachella: 4/10-12 @ Empire Polo Fields
Arcade Fire are apparently in the "Very early stages" of a new recording, according to David Byrne's blog.
Although for the record, I did swing around on my swivel chair a few times when I read that.
EDIT: Apparently Win and Régine are off to Haiti to check out how the Partners In Health clinics have been spending their money, so there's no work being done right now.
Reading a lot of articles about AF for my research paper...and I found a quote where Win says "We won't be playing New York for a long, long time."
That was in Oct. 07.
I don't think we'll be seeing AF anytime soon.
NO! I want Arcade Fire AND Bjork back. I don't care how unlikely it is, I WANT IT! lol
In Australia, they had the good sense to combine the two.
So much rage, I can't even articulate it.
He's developed a weird thing about donkeys, too. Political thing? I dunno.
We haven't seen him around for a bit though, Arcade Fire haven't produced anything sellable for a while, maybe he just starved to death?
I'm starting to think I want Arcade Fire there only for the fact that it would almost surely guarantee me getting to meet you MissingPerson

Anyway, my mission for 2009/10 is to make friends with Arcade Fire.
They'd let me join.
I mean, I can't sing and have a quite tragically comic lack of rhythm or musical talent, but I figure fuck it, there's ten of them, I can coast. We'd be pals like God intended. We'd walk around markets together, or have roadtrips, or spontaneous night-time picnics. We could hang out in Montréal all day, in artfully scruffy boho bilingual cafés, shooting the breeze. We'd talk about politics, and religion, and philosophy, and sometimes I'd throw my head back and laugh girlishly. I'd get a journal.
They'd look at me with unpatronising kindlyness all the while. Not the way you look at brain-damaged people either, but a good wholesome kindlyness, because we're pals now. Good pals, and they like me.
Oh, the times we'd have. We'd hang out, we'd laugh, they'd make music, I'd crack wise, and every now and then, when I thought nobody was looking, I'd maybe lick Will Butler's throat.
It would be beautiful.

Love 'em. Probably my favorite band of this millenium. NOT headliner material though, simply because headliners need more than 2 albums to fill out a show. We should save it for their next album. Every time has been awe-inspiring, but I don't want to ruin it with over-exposure.
