Yes I think it is possible that the Chemical Bros headline. I was surprised that they didn't headline in 2008 but then i guess Fatboy Slim rarely plays in the U.S. so they decided not to book both.

The Chemicals had a new album out last year so i thought the would play to promote that but they have now released a compilation of their greatest hits so i could see them playing in 2009.

But I think Underworld might be a likely headliner in 2009 in the Sahara as they have been playing the European festivals this past summer so with new material out already i would suggest they will play Coachella in 2009

I think the chems deserve to have the sahara one night. I think they could headline just about any festival on the circuit, but I think everyone, including the bros themselves would enjoy a sahara set much more.

hell they played on the outdoor stages twice and have played in the tents twice..it doesn't matter where you put the bros..when it comes to coachella they always kill it..

Chems won't headline the festival. They'll headline the sahara tent.

They wont headline the entire festival because their most recent tour (late 2007) was very small and very not sold out.

betao made an excellent point about their current tour- the sahara is much more comparable to the size of venues they've been playing recently, as opposed to the 35,000+ main stage. it seems to be conscious on their part, trying to create a more intimate, danceable feeling

Let's get it straight here. The Chem Bros, in terms of a draw level, are no Daft Punk/Tiesto. They couldn't even sell out the majority of the arenas they played the last time they toured the US, and one of the reasons they don't tour a lot here is because (like virtually every other UK band with a high-production live show [i.e. Massive Attack]) it costs too damn much.

So maybe not in 2009, or even 2010, but I hope the Chems come back and rock the motherfucking Sahara.

right now, this is what toronto city hall looks like:


each of the two towers' windows in invidually backlit, turning the whole building into a monochromatic display. I can't find a picture, but on saturday, each tower had a dude dancing on it, and it reminded me so much of the chemical brothers' setup
