It seems like Emek is doing cooler posters for APW than Coachella

A few things.

First, I met EMEK at a poster show in 2007 and we talked about the Coachella 2007 print (still one of my favorites in my collection, have it framed). He stated it wasn't his first design idea ... Goldenvoice chimed in and stated that they didn't want a person as the main image (which, I guess is what he initially submitted), so he did a second drawing with the flower-victrola design. I'm guessing GV has had say on these prints, and I'll bet they've asked to keep the main theme the same for 08 and 09 (tree).

As for the APW prints ... interesting that both are rehashes of previous EMEK pieces ...

$15, or two for $20. I should have been smart and waited for someone else to come along and buy one and then we could have split the cost and I would have had $5 to buy a bottle of water. And speaking of which, yay dehydration piss.

I saw the artist at the end of the night and he still had a bunch of posters left, so they may appear for sale online somewhere.

You really can't beat 2 for $20 - my brother and I snagged numbers 2 and 3 right after arriving.

Back from the dead..
I wasn't crazy about the last two prints from Methane that I saw (Grizzly Bear & The Dead Weather) but they have been redeemed by the one at Dinosaur Jr tonight.



At the bottom where it says "King" it actually is in gloss black, contrasting with the flat black overlay: "King of Monsters"

I love Aaron Horkey's work I got to meet him not too long ago when Burlesque was having their giant warehouse sale. He has done all the Boris prints when they tour America and they are gorgeous.

I really like the Dead Weather ones.. I got the artists edition of the All Points West poster for $75 when Emek had his onsale. Still looks like shit; terrible font, recycled image of mechanical shark. Printed on a different color paper, and #98/100 for much cheaper than the one being sold at the show though. Seriously though, its ugly. Really ugly. Even worse than the Them Crooked Vultures emek from above.

As a side not, I got a Kooks cd signed by the whole band when I won tickets to an studio session through FM 94.9 in San Diego. Got it beautifully framed (floated) and mounted for over $140, then realized I really can't stand the Kooks. Any offers? I'll trade it for a 2007 Emek coachella ;-)
