I got my Trip to the Moon poster by Phantom City Creative today that I've been waiting on for 2 months. I'm in love with it.
Had the frame stuff picked out and ready to go for a while now... Sorry for the indoor light making it weird.

Some Sasquatch posters are starting to pop up here and there:
Eh. Kinda dig the Little Dragon one...

I have no idea actually. I'll ask when I get the chance in a month. It was limited to 250 on the whole tour though. The merch guy was going to sell maybe 20 tops a night to try and keep some for each tour stop. We'll see if that even happens, cause I would think they would have to make another run by the middle of the tour. Also, it is a much darker blue than what you see on the image.
Animals as Leaders was good. The visuals being synched with what theyre playing was interesting to watch when not just seeing all the crazy stuff they are playing on their instruments.

I've always tried to abide by the "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" mantra, but I think I dislike Horkey's work more than Emek's.
/To each their own, whatever floats your boat, etc.

Bahaha I don't see the metal band look but yes he can get quite lavish. A lot of it makes more sense in person once its printed. Screenprinting adds quite a bit of depth to it so it doesn't appear as cluttered if you can picture that in your head. Even the use of textured and metallic inks is pretty big in his compositions from what Ive seen. And the format its printed on is important. That image on 12x26 paper works way better then you scrolling along it on your laptop.
I prefer his scene/nature/charcter work to his typography most of the time, but then I'm met with images such as his poster for the movie Dead Man where he just knocks everything out of the park.

Recently I've also enjoyed his Fantastic Planet prints where he toned it down a bit.

I can't even make out the words "dead" and "man" on that poster.

Horkey is definitely a form over function kind of artists.
Horkey has a done quite a few Andrew Bird posters at this point, and I don't really see the "metal band" thing either, unless you're just equating that with the super lavish lettering style he has. I can go on and on about why he's great, but at the end of the day it's up to taste and I know a lot of people here are really into more simple stuff, which I'm a fan of too, so I get it - though mentioning his name next to Emek's like that makes me a little sick.

the horkey fantastic planet print is awesome. helps that i love the movie, but he nailed it. the andrew bird is whatever, but the dead man is awful.
The Dead Man poster is pretty, but as a poster for that film, yes, it is terrible. He definitely went overboard on the letters for that one.

On a different topic -
Jacob Bannon has completed a pretty project which has culminated in 90 on-of-a-kind mixed media pieces of his cover for Converge's Jane Doe Record
After years in the making "The Jane Project" by J. Bannon Available Now
This is the last Jane related project I will ever release. The making of this project will be featured in an upcoming mini-documentary filmed by McFarland & Pecci Productions.
"The Jane Project" has been a massive undertaking that I have been working semi-secretly for a few years now. Over that time period, I created 90 "one-of-a-kind" Mixed Media pieces using my well known "Jane Doe" image as a foundation. Utilizing Japanese Gouache, Acrylic, Spray Paint, Ink, and other mediums, I slowly built up each image over time. This arduous layering process gave each piece unique textural character that carries a luminance and depth that could never be created any other way.
Each piece measures in at 23.5" X 31" in size, and all are hand signed and lacquered on plywood, ready for quality framing. I will be handpicking each one that I send to my customers. Since each one has its own color palette, what color you will receive will be unique to you and you alone.
