They are kidding! I have seen people cut extra large borders to fit standard frames, which is cool as long as you are keeping it for yourself.

Emek posted this preview today. I surmise that its the print for Radiohead at the Santa Barbara Bowl, with the "Nederlander Concerts" and EMEK's past relationship with the venue and band. I have no idea how this is printed but the texture looks crazy in the picture.

Looks like embossed metal with a paint overlay to me. The paint hasn't really sunken in to the background at all - it's just pooling around on top.

I'm not actually considering cutting the poster, but i am quite serious with my design gripes about it. The composition is weak as it is.

Hmm...far better than last year's abortion. But, I'm not sure about it yet. I like the bird right off and it drinking nectar from the festival/lotus flower is a neat theme. Just not sure about the bottom, the Coachella font and/or the squigly lines as fill for the dead space (seems lazy). Main takeaway is that it's moving in the right direction from last year.

Its never been the same since 2008 when it was $55 to start the weekend and then went up to $175 by Sunday night to curb the people who wanted to flip the thing afterwards. So really, I would not be shocked by teeh price. Also, I saw a foil variant cost $400 one year...

Someone on EB said the pricing on the '08 posters was a mistake, but I dont know the validity of that.

People were pissed when the prices suddenly got cut in half to $65 just on Sunday.

I expect $75-$100 for the regular edition. And if you are not happy on the price GV sets at the festival for it, you can always wait and get an AP from EMEK who has offered it at the same or lower price every year.

The foil and sparkle stuff are out of 5 or even just a 1 off. There is an awesome 2011 where the spaceship is just white. He included some of the weirdo ones as surprises in the AP sales last year.

Last year there were quite a few different foil variants. I think 5 regular edition foils and 5 variant edition foils, along with 15 variant sparkle glitter foils (I have one of these), and 10 regular sparkle glitter foils. Emek randomly put some of them in orders from the his own website, but also offered a handful by themselves. I think last year at the show it was 90/175 for the regular/variant editions? I was not able to see the costs of any foils as they were gone by the time I got there.

I'm curious to see if they will just split the amount available for each weekend as I am definitely interested in one of the foils to match the one I have from last year.

Yes. You had to ask for any "other variants" and they would show you them.

I know some have sold out so if you are concerned about that you can order them online for the same price, then chose in store pickup at melrose for free and grab them when you get over there. The pictures I've seen are all pretty true to the jpgs being giclee prints if not more vivid. I'll get over there before it closes on the 28th to see the original pieces for sure.
