I'm only recently familiar with him (Burwell), but I wouldn't have even been able to tell you that was the same guy. I really dig some of his older things, but like his current stuff more.

Also, today I got this Martin Ansin print through Mondo's. Edition of 385, sold out in 3 minutes... I know it's not a show poster, but I need to share my excitement

Word. And I certainly dont mean to slag Guy, who is a huge talent.
Its just that lately all his stuff has been chunky with all the levels and colors turned up to 10 so it looses the dynamism that was perhaps his greatest strength.
Theres still great stuff in the posters but I personally think it would be even greater with more room to breathe in the mix.

Just my opinion.

No, I wasn't. I had a couple chances to see Fantomas and I squandered them. I gave up a ticket to a Fantomas/Melvins big band performance at the Knitting Factory to do something else, and I regret that so much.

I have the black version of this poster...I love it! I've been buying tour posters for a few years now. I love the art. I just bought a poster for Okkervil River w/sea wolf at the fonda theater...I'll try to post all the posters I have. I usually get them mounted onto a black foam backing and have them coated for protection then up onto the walls with them!

and yeah I get posters for shows I've been to.

Thanks to both of you I just bought both of them for $60 on ebay. I was sooo on a good one that day to even worry about a poster. Beers for both of you if we're ever at the same show. Cheers

You should! thats the one Fleet Foxes and Walkmen are opening right? and yeah i was thinking that same thing.

Could be a variety of things. As that's a poster for the whole tour, it could have been contracted by the band directly. Or the record label. Or the promoter. For venue-specific shows it's usually contracted by the venue or the promoter. Or someone's friend. Or a local record store. Or by no one.

Well in this case, since it is a poster for a whole tour, the band contacted the artist. That's usually how it's done even with single gig posters. Some venues do contact artists specifically, or have agreements such as the Greek Theater always working with lalaland posters.

Yep. I'm already going to Ty Segall though. It's super cheap and I don't have to go far. I doubt I'd be able to find a decent seat for Bon Iver anyway(venue kinda sucks if you're not somewhat close).
