The Jaxx previewed some of the songs (if not all) from ZEPHYR, which is more soundscapy stuff. Was gonna be part of Scars as a double album type of thing, but its seperate.

I was expecting it too!!! GRRRRR. That's okay though I have no place to complain. I got TWERK off the new album and my body WORKED IT.

Pop it to the left, pop it to the right, pop it hard girl.

Also does anyone notice while listening to the new album that there are OWL CALLS on every song? Ofcourse this is not a coincidence, but rather pure AWESOMENESS. Finally the day has come where owls are accepted into the music scene and really can keep a beat.

The metaphor of raindrops running throughout the album is lovely as well. Nothing closes out the imagery better than in "Gimme Something True" when they say:

PUT YOUR UMBRELLAS DOWN, AND DANCE THROUGH THE RAINDROPS.

We all know that feeling. Put down your protection and just be free! Let it all go! Don't let anything hold you back!

I think, despite me posting the most in this thread, that you have surpassed my fan-boy-ism

And I didn't realize til now that every song has owl calls (i think of HOOTING when i think of owls...are u sure they arent another aMiMaL?

Also, I have an MP3 of a live set they did this year. Once I track it and stuff, I'll share. Traces of the DJ set I'm sure are in the DJ bits they do in the live show (somewhere over the rainbow goes into NIFTY, etc)

Most of them are "HOO HOO" noises and I can detect an owl call from a mile away AT LEAST! I honestly think they included them because of the album cover. Maybe they have a fascination with owls like me? Has anyone researched the album artwork. It is beautiful. They have a creativity and flash that most acts can't bring.

When I have time I will locate the owl calls but here is a major one to start with:

    3:34 listen for it!

& yes there are probably many animal sounds because they get down like that.

    Basically...

Really, I'd much rather bring the whole live show over. It'd be quite expensive, just to have 18 people traveling around...The thing is, we can't operate on that scale [here in America], so we're going to have to reconnect a bit. The DJing thing isn't something we do all the time. To me, the live show represents our music more.

...when we last went over there, dance music was thought of like, "Oh, that's just gay music, and it's so the opposite of rap music!" And we were very conscious of all the boundaries, and the fact was that we didn't really fit into any of them except, slightly, alternative. And slightly rock and slightly rap and slightly dance...

The plan is to take a couple of months off and then decide what to do. I mean, at the moment, Basement Jaxx is alive and really healthy...
...Yeah, it'll be coming out about a month after this record comes out. We're finishing it this week, just kind of putting it all together. [on the new EP of ambient music]

I think it said in the interview that they had a great response to their live set when they were in LA. And haven't they already done two live sets at Coachella before? I say it's possible.

Well it's official, Basement Jaxx DJ sets are just as fucking fun as their live sets. Chicago sure knows how to fucking throw a dance party and proved it last night with a bangin set from beginning to end. Absolute insanity at it's finest. I can't imagine Coachella without them in 2010. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

I don't see how they are saying "no" in the interview.... hopefully the down under tour, turns into live one offs in north america in the spring this time...

Basement Jaxx played Coachella in 2004, Hollywood Bowl (w/ Royksopp & Bossaccanova) in 2005, and Detour Fest in 2006.

Anyone know of any other live/dj dates prior, here? Did they tour for Remedy/Rooty?

Yeah, I don't see why it would be out of the question. BJ said in the interview that their live sets represent their music more than their DJ sets. Sounds like they're game... at least for Coachella anyway.

And I think they did live sets in the Remedy/Rooty days in the US. But back then, their live sets were more like DJ sets.
