    Default Reviews that ruined it

Ever have this happen? Read a review on something you already liked then you go back and listen and all the shit in the review sticks out like a sore thumb? It pisses me off but all of the sudden I have trouble enjoying Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip. I would still see them live too, I just can't listen to the album on my ipod anymore.

Maybe it will pass. It doesn't happen often either, i read lots of bad reviews and they have zero effect on me. Like Jet when Get Bourn came out, I totally dug it, read the PF review and laughed my ass off but still loved the album. They totally ruined Angles/Angels for me.

I read a really stupid review of CKY's second album once and I laughed then just enjoyed the album even more afterwards.

maybe it was ruined for you because deep down you agree with them or maybe you just don't have faith in your own taste... either way, bummer for you.

I can't say I've had that happen - I rarely read reviews, and if I do, it's after I've set my opinion. Plus, I can't take PF that seriously, fax.

Heh, I know it's weird. It could be a mood thing I suppose. I've been listening to lots of NIN, Calexico and the damn National are creeping back in but I keep thinking about tha PF review of DL VS SP and now I don't care to hear it at all. I guess I was just wondering if a review can change your mind or taste at all to the negative as I know many read a good review for a band they havnen't heard and get turned on by it.

sometimes when a review is SO bad for an album I'll listen to it because I'm curious. Then I wind up liking it(Jet comes to mind Fax, well the first album).

There is some truth to this. Just check Bmacks sig. I would rather chill to Sublime tunes than scream to Nirvana on most occasions. I had a good 4 years where I tortured myself with mostly ICP but I don't tell people about that. That was from about 1996-1999, it was awful, nothing but ICP and Marilyn Manson. I'm not as ashamed of manson but the ICP is embarassing.

Just trust me... It was awful. Check the dlsVSsp topic where I bitched about it.

I had the opposite happen with Year Zero for me when I first heard that album I hated it and completely wrote it off then I read some reviews gave it another shot and love it now

It's been there from the beginning.. the weak Britpop headliners Friday; the rumors that DP was gonna play, that it was a done deal, then all of a sudden 'oops, no, not gonna happen'; and now the new album. It's all so obvious.
