    Smile Silent Disco?

    I think it's a good idea for Coachella '09.
It could go on after the festival's noise curfew like Glastonbury 2005 because anybody walking outside can't hear anything.

Plus I've always missed the ones at UK festivals..

silent disco is weird. especially when people start singing along. I've heard the curfew argument before, but never heard of a silent disco successful enough to go beyond curfew. it's just a novelty. nothing more.

Probably better than nothing, but not feeling the thumping bass would kinda suck .

Hmm... I'm tempted to go. I've wanted to go to a silent disco since I first found out about them. Sounds like a lot of fun.

It really is! It takes you a couple minutes to get used to it and not feel like an idiot, but once you do, you might be addicted to it. I miss Bonnaroo! (and 'Chella of course)

There are 4 stages.. Silent disco will be happening at one of them. I am not sure what time yet but it will be during the festival.

interesting....typically i've seen those reserved for after hours, but that should be fun.

In my fucked up state i tried finding the one at Vegoose this year, but was directed the wrong way until we found it and it was over. I think it was at the HOB or something like that.

they had a silent disco at bonnaroo in 2007, it was kinda awkward...funny though NPR had a segment on silent raves catching on around the world. It was on today around 5pm pst.

I love silent discos! It always seems really busy at Reading, I left the silent disco tent about 3:30am in the morning and there was still a big queue to get in!

The silent disco in Benicassim was too small though and shut really early! Although as the last DJ/band didn’t finish till 7am they had no noise restrictions, so I can see why it’s not as popular

They did it in a koko in Camden a couple of weeks ago, and fun loving criminals played live, i wished i got tickets...

at bonnaroo everyone was dancing to music a single dj was spinning. the silent rave that kcrw was talking about was a bunch of people listening to their own mp3 players...which just seems pointless but apparently everyone enjoyed it

This sounds so awesome. If they do this at Coachella 2009, I'm so in. If not, maybe my friends and I will host mini one ourselves.

This would also solve the problem of camping next to the musician campers. I lucked out this year, the people next to us were good...even had a sax player. Previous years weren't so lucky.

I'd be for it if it means that the do lab is a silent disco, so I don't hear drum and bass while trying to enjoy someone on the outdoor or main stage.

Ok first of all Silent Disco is one hell of a time, especially when you have one DJ orchestrating all the music, I attened one at Vegoose, a year agom they had the same DJ they had at Bonnaroo, Mopo, Motion Potion, the headphones were provided by Koss, as part of a chordless headphone promo, if want the party to keep on going, you def need one of these Disco, thumping silently through the night, what they should do is make on exclusive to those camping, not a total free for all for the chumps who stay hotels, or houses or whereever they stay besides the campgorunds!!!!!!

I think it's an awesome idea if everyone is listening to the same thing. I think I'd feel sorta retarded though if everyone was jamming to their own ipods.
