I have regular dreams about going through the morning campground routine and walking into the polo fields. it always ends or repeats before seeing any bands though. I also have a dream about the main stage at night. again, nobody's playing, it's just... the main stage, with thousands of people, in the lights, at night. that's it.

my 'chella dreams usually revolve around my recording equipment. a killer band is about to start and i either don't have my gear or i'm having trouble getting it set up/working.

even though i've never had a real issue with my gear...yet. *knock on wood*

most of my rips from last years coachella turned out mint.

I've always wanted to ask questions to people in the dance tent but none of them have ever been sober enough to talk to.
    Can someone help me?

How does one dance and really get into the music?
    Serious question

Sorry if I disrespect anyone on the board, but for some reason how I feel dancing to rave music I just feel ridiculous. Maybe it's because I don't like rave music.
think that may be why, feather?

Welllll there is SO many different genres of electronic as you all know, and believe me I have danced to some of the most "rave-tastic" songs in the world. The Sahara however has a nice balance of electronic, and some is really simple to get down to. You only THINK you look ridiculous but the beauty of EDM is that self expression is key, and you can interpret the beat however your body wants you to. A little intoxicants can always free your mind too! We'll work on it okay?!

    Intoxicants are not my thing.
But this year maybe I'll delve into the Sahara tent for a bit and see what I might be missing out on.

in my experience if you've feeling a tiny bit ridiculous about your dancing, the best thing to do is just get right into the thick of the crowd and lose it. No one will be watching you anyway.

Yeah I figured that's the best thing to do anyways despite the inevitable crushing that will take place.

I've committed to bringing a laptop, a torq connectiv box, and a trigger finger. I'm hoping someone local-ish from the board will bring a power pack. if not, I'll get one at wal-mart on my way out there. windowliquor is apparently going to bring his roland TB-303. in terms of sound I was just thinking a set of 2.1 computer speakers would be as loud as you'd want to be anyways for risk of really really annoying all the neighbors. so far it's an all-digital setup, but if you want vinyl, we've got a lot of time to plan this

I keep hearing the term "trigger finger" and I have an image of what it could be/what it can be/what it should be, but I think i'm going to wait and be surprised

Pilgrim! Did you see those shitty ass, coachella is moving up a week sooner, rumors? they better be false, I need my 21st at the polo fields

I'm good with an all digital setup, I just wish I had something to contribute other than bringing a bunch of tunes with me.

I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to bring. It won't include turntables or anything vinyl, as I don't own anything in that department. What I will bring is basically limited by the size of the gear itself and my willingness to take it into the harsh desert environment.

I will almost definitely bring my electribe sampler. I will probably bring my roland tb-303, and I will probably bring my microKorg. If guys want to use any of that stuff, it would be fine with me, but the electribe basically just has my own personal sounds and beats in it. The 303 can be easily controlled by either the microKorg or a trigger finger, although I reserve the right to make fun of you if you hook a trigger finger up to my 303.

I'd most likely be controlling it through reason/rewire. I like the trigger finger for assigning various functions of traktor and reason. also, velocity sensitive pads=drum machine fun. but yeah. 303 hooked up to a trigger finger is like playing a toys-r-us strat rip-off through a triple rectifier

I could see this going one of two ways, basically. Either it will be very awesome, and everyone will have a great time and thank us, or, people will bitch, the cops will show up and it will not be fun.

Excellent advice. Although I am usually the girl who asks for more space from others to dance...(thanks for giving me some room!) I wouldn't worry too much about the noise level, lets just DO IT and everyone in the group/around us will be having such a great time they cannot resist but join in. We'll definitely get the blow up pool filled this time because we can put glowsticks/flashing lights in it and make a rave pool. To cool down the crazy dancers ofcourse.

Dude its fun. You have to feel it. Ive tried a lot of things out from moshing at hardcore shows to mariachi with the locals. EDM is fucking fun. Just start listening to some Bennasi or Digitalism. Im sure your feet will start tapping.

I know your not into drugz but a little experimenting dont hurt. I dont do drugs on my own time. Only when at raves, concerts or Coachella. Drugz helped me break out of my shell once. After i didnt really need to be on anything to have fun with EDM.

i'm down for the dancing group (or the supermessageboard group). i prolly wont dance, but i'm down to have fun.

i only really dance at coachella. i have no rhythm at all, but it doesn't matter when you're around white people and Hot Chip is owning the tent.
