    Default Google Chrome

New Google web browser (called Chrome) should be out for beta testing tomorrow. I'm excited.....I usually love anything google does (gmail, maps, earth, blah blah). Of course, nothing wrong with firefox, so its really just another browser to flood the market and make checking web development even more time consuming with checking through ANOTHER browser. But I'll check it out nonetheless.

Biggest difference so far is the memory usage...firefox rapes my computers resources (like 155-200,000k at a time!!! - uncalled for)...Chrome ain't like that all, at least from what I see...plus each tab is treated like its own window kind of, so if one dies it doesn't kill the whole browser (which is an awesome feature - no more huge crashes).

The layout is cool too....I like how tabs are at the very top...it doesn't seem as cluttered as Firefox. Plus I like how Form fields are highlighted so you know when and if it's okay to hit enter or not.

So far I like it...I wouldn't have a problem using this as my default. I can't stand Safari, or IE, or Opera...so it's really between this and firefox, and so far, props to google.

Obviously the biggest reason people will wanna stick with Firefox is because of their extensions they've added on, but those will all come to Chrome in time too.

Yeah, so I just installed Chrome. I'm using it right now. Compared to Opera and Firemox, it is much less resource intensive. The interface is pretty streamlined. It almost looks like Safari. It seems pretty dope though.

Seems like a cool feature (though it's not new - I think the new IE has it too), so whatever you browse or do in incognito, nothing is logged on your computer at all - no history, temp files, nothing.

I like it. I like that there's less clutter, as Erik pointed out, than Firefox. The larger page is nice. Less CPU usage is also really nice.

the 'go to first new post' links on threads on this message board don't seem to work in chrome. it always takes me too far down the page.

that's a pretty major flaw if I were to switch over entirely.

I like its ability to resize the text box I am typing in here.

It takes forever to add a bookmark and YouTube crashed for me. I can't scroll with my mouse 3 button either when I hold it down.

    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.

I sit in OS X and linux most of the time, but I gave chrome a test whirl on my XP partition and it's pretty nice. Very elegant and fast as fuck. I'm excited for it to move out of beta and drift over to os x and linux.

Chrome is fancy stuff for me, fast etc. (I was using internet explorer) Linux is so out of my league.

People say that, but there are varying degrees of linux immersion. Some versions are about as easy as windows or os x, some are a total pain in the ass.

I'm running Chrome at work; I love that it saves your commonly visited web pages on the home page so all I have to do is click on the picture. Not noticing any speed difference though.

yeah, and since i instaled ff3, it has been crashing more often. but i think that's more because the 15 tabs i keep open at a time and don't close for days.

if you type "about:%" in chrome, it will crash the whole browser, not only one tab. and no adware extension is a fail. hopefully they will fix all these things soon.
