If you hate Steely Dan yet have no problem with this Mayer Hawthorne song, you're a damn hypocrite.

Ha, yeah I tried searching for it but I had no luck. Thanks though, I'm gonna dig in there 'cause I already see some stuff I haven't heard.

The early pages of this thread serves as a reminder of how many quality posters have gone missing in the past couple years.

I'm not sure how many of you guys listen to poscasts but Wtf with Marc Maron has had some pretty cool music guests and he always does good interviews. Recently, he's had MJK, Thom Yorke, and Nick Cave among others. Just throwing that out there in case anyone is interested.

The group reaction to new posters of any quality should explain, at least partly, why the overall quality of posts has diminished. It's pretty special to have a group of core boardies who take their relationship past the internet, but you sort of have to remember that this is a general forum, and the more the group fights the new people, the more the groupies of quality will lose interest in the fight, and the more the new people of quality will just go somewhere else.

It sort of sounds like the guy who finds himself friendless, and then curses everyone for it. It is what it is, guys. If you immediately call everything trash, then everything will start looking like trash.

Thanks for the heads up. I've been looking for non-sports related podcasts to listen to.

I listened to the Nick Cave and Iggy Pop ones, they were pretty good. I've been meaning to really dig into his back episodes, but it's a huge collection and not all of them are available for free, although a lot of them can be dug up various places.

The Louis CK one is pretty great. I believe it's on youtube, along with the Conan, Judd Apatow, Andy Dick, Chris Rock, Bill Lawerence, Fiona Apple episodes which i would recommend. The Michael Ian Black ones are fun to listen to just to hear them dig at each other. But, really, not many bad ones.

The one he did with John Darnielle was quite good.

These 3 are good and I listen to a lot:

YOU MADE IT WEIRD with Pete Holmes (mostly interviews comedians or comedic actors)
GIRL ON GUY with Aisha Tyler (various famous people)

The Three O'Clock and Dream Syndicate are the obvious answers, and so are the early Bangles.

Heck yeah, there's a second Nuggets compilation? Awesome. I finished listening to all of the original Nuggets stuff a few weeks ago, and there's definitely some great stuff on there. But, that being said, about half of it is really not that great. Tons and tons of of-the-era sounding songs, to the point where a song would start and I'd think wait what's that doing on here? Ohhh, it's not what I'm thinking, just another song that uses that same exact guitar riff. Half great tunes, half coattail riding forgettable tunes.

Well, I think the Nuggets Chris is referring to is the original 1972 one. Then there's a huge series that was released in the late 80s. And apparently a Children of the Nuggets series.

If he's talking about the CD box set, it compiled the four official Nuggets releases, and then those Children albums are out there too. And then there's Pebbles.

Well, that is the art for Nuggets Vol. 1 as well as the 4-disc box. The one you listened to was 27 tracks?

Rhino has put out five Nuggets box sets, in addition to the various single album releases and miscellany with the Nuggets title. There's the first box set of 60s garage rock, which is based off of the original 1972 compilation LP. Then there's a set of British and international garage rock from the 60s called Nuggets II. Then there's this one I had just mentioned, which covers a lot of 80s stuff called Children of Nuggets. Finally there's a set of San Francisco-area 60s rock and a set of LA-area 60s rock.
