    Gorgeous album...

In the Aeroplane over the Sea and Trout mask Replica feel like concept albums but I guess they aren't so...

By far the easiest storyline to follow. Like who honestly knows what Drum's not Dead is about?

Somebody played a track from Hospice in the venue when we were waiting for Sunset Rubdown the other day. Nothing gets a party started like bone cancer.

I saw Autolux last night and talked to their drummer afterward and asked her about the status of the new album. She said it is complete and has been for some time, and that the reason it has not been released is because they can't find anyone to release it. I asked her why they don't release it themselves and she said that they put too much time and money into it to take that risk.

It seems as though self releasing something isn't the same gamble as it used to be. All they would need for a reasonable success rate is a decent write up on Pitchfork or a prominent blog or something. Of course, this comes from someone who knows absolutely nothing about the music business. Just ignorantly speculating.

That's what I thought too, but I didn't want to bring that up in our conversation. She acted as though they are really in need of money (which they probably are). She was lobbying people to buy merch after the show. I had no cash there, but I just bought a poster online. They are an excellent band and I really hope they make it. I also talked with her about ATP. She said they had so much fun and that the entire band felt it was one of their best performances they have ever done.

listening to music based on song lengths can be interesting. I've just discovered that two long songs, both clocking in at exactly 11:49 (oddly enough) - Dandy Warhols' "a load tonight" [odditorium] and Yo la Tengo's "the Story of Yo la Tengo" [i am not afraid of you and i will beat your ass] sound REALLY fucking good back to back!

This has suddenly turned into a very enjoyable 24 minutes of entering data into spreadsheets

I was honestly expecting Wayne to have gone off, even though they both are very nice people. What resulted was so much better.

    Trader's Little Helper, G.

During my largest class on Tues. (450 people), the prof read the results of a silly little 'Get to know young people' survey we all filled out on the first day. For 'Favorite music you're currently listening to;' the two most popular responses were Taylor Swift and Jason Mraz... awful.
