I work for a small start up shoe company and recently a co-worker and I started reaching out to different people (spec. bands) we like to see if they would have any interest in sporting any of our shoes. The band Maruta got back to us and said they would and in exchange sent us a giant box of merch that arrived today. Here is some of it:

T-shirts, sweatshirts, patches, stickers, copies of their CDs as well as a bunch of comps and friend's bands CDs too. Thought that it was pretty awesome of them.

Who knows a good place to start to locate some good, jazzy burlesque music?

Wearing it right now haha! Awesome grindcore band from Florida. Their album Forward Into Regression is one of my favorite metal-leaning ones of the year. You can DL it for free from their bandcamp http://maruta.bandcamp.com/

Sweat! it is definitely typical grindcore typography for that logo. The album now costs $5 to dl btw. I'll listen to it when i get a chance though.

Not sure if it's for the end of the year tour or if it's for the next album. He posted that he is doing auditions on Facebook and i forwarded the info to my friend and he got in contact with him and made the arrangements.

In either case, I think it's an awesome idea - I'm all about artists like Baths incorporating live instruments into their music. Has your friend ever worked with anyone who makes that kind of music before?

he has worked both live and in studio on many types of genres, but not something so electronic sounding that i am aware of. He has a lot of range though.

What a thing to forget. I haven't listened to any Stereolab in ages, though. I really wish they'd regroup and put out some new material so they would tour again.

I hadn't listened to it in probably 5 years, if not longer. I bought it awhile back because the vinyl was marked down and just got around to listening to it again. Needless to say, I won't go that long without listening to them ever again.

New Twilight Sad single is out today, and album will be out in February. I love this band to pieces, but I'm not sure what to think of the new, far more electronic direction they've taken with this single, and the other new track they've recently previewed.

I just deleted all of Rilo Kiley from my ipod. I haven't listened to any of it in years but it was really hard to do.

I am deleting everything from iTunes except for 2010-2011 releases. I am trying to make a statement to myself, to stop listening to the same albums I've been listening to for the last 20 years.

Ah, ok. It is good to be organized every now and then I've found, I made a list of bands I've been meaning to get into that I never have, and when I have listener's block I just go to that list and put on one of their albums. It's been quite productive.

iTunes unfortunately blows up after you reach a certain number of tracks (admittedly it's a ridiculously large number). I used to just load everything I have into iTunes, but now it's pretty much unusable. So I'm starting fresh in terms of playlists, iPod, etc.

A friend of mine is staying in a hotel room and just posted that this is on his wall:

Forgive my ignorance, but didn't a band use this for an album cover? It looks really familiar.
