I'm listening to the self-titled Foo Fighters album in its entirety for the first time since the 90's, when my friend's older brother had it and played it a bunch. I had forgotten how awesome it is. Foo Fighters = great.

I had also forgotten that half of these songs are still played all the time on alt rock radio.

The first album is incredible, perfect, creative and all worthy of praise. The second and third albums were both decent but not great, and they've been less interesting after that, but that first album...Damn.

I have major memories attached to The Colour and the Shape, so I'd argue with you about that not being a great album. The rest are some awesome songs mixed with some not-bad-but-not-great tunes. Dave Grohl is pretty awesome. I always manage to forget this.

I love The Colour and the Shape, but I feel like there are some weak/underwritten tracks on it, or at least songs that sound too prototypically modern Alt-Rock. That was my favorite album for a LONG time as a kid though.

Actually, I wouldn't disagree with your argument. Nostalgia totally colors my opinion of it (no pun intended.) I'm relistening to it right now as well. It's been a long time. Reminds me of summer days at my friend's house, where I used to spend days at a time. The first album is a stronger overall batch of songs.

Awesome. I can't wait for this.

    Stephen Malkmus Announces Beck-Produced LP

Last year, we reported that Pavement frontman Stephen Malkmus had hit the studio with his band the Jicks and one Beck Hansen. But because Malkmus was busy with the Pavement reunion tour all last year, that collaboration had to go on the back burner. Now that Pavement is once again in the rearview mirror, Malkmus is back on his solo grind. The Matablog announces that Matador will release the Beck-produced Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks album Mirror Traffic on August 23.

The Matablog also reports that Mirror Traffic will be the final Jicks album to feature former Sleater-Kinney drummer Janet Weiss, who's keeping herself busy with Wild Flag, her new band with Mary Timony and ex-Sleater-Kinney bandmate Carrie Brownstein. At future Jicks shows, Joggers drummer Jake Morris will take over for her.

The first three Foo Fighters albums are great. Their output since then has been underwhelming.
We're here to play some Mississippi Delta Blues. We're in a horrible depression, and I gotta admit - we're starting to like it.

I guess this would be more related to the music edition than just "the default thread".

I'm about to buy my first vinyl player and i was wondering if this is ok or anyone know of something better for around the same price.

I like Coldplay. Fucking sue me. It helps that I don't pay a lot of attention to lyrics, because if I did Coldplay would make me really upset.

They're definitely not as bad as this board makes them out to be.

EDIT* That song Chris posted above is pretty fucking terrible though.

I like Coldplay too, even though it might not seem like it from my above post. Their first two albums really get to me. The quality of their output has really dropped since, though.
