As a rock opera, Tommy. I don't really think the two can be classified under the same album type though. The Wall vs. Tommy is a more clear comparison, and I would say Tommy.

I want to rant a bit about how much I love Boredoms. It's weird to find a band that links my favorite styles of music so seamlessly and so uniquely. You tell me hardcore krautrock, Boredoms is not what pops to mind, but on Vision Creation Newsun, that's to totally what they are. They take that Germanic groove, something that never fails to capture me, mix it with taiko drumming, hardcore fills, bongos and whatever the fuck else they could find to bang on, and then they just go nuts on the top. They do all kinds of right on this album, and I'm certain, if nothing else, it's staying at the top of my list for the decade. End rant.

I didn't get to experience either of the Boardrum events, but I think the 9 drummer thing at ATP is going to shape up to be a great compromise between holy-fuck!-primal-power and an actual intimate and personal Boredoms show.

I'm hoping they incorporate Super AE stuff like they apparently have been recently in Japan. 88Boadrum was massive, but they were better on their own in my opinion.

That's relieving. Six Organs of Admittance played in SF not too long ago so at least one of them is active. I never saw comets on fire but their recorded material sounds like it was specifically designed for crowded venues.

I went up to Santa Cruz to see the Smashing Pumpkins in July '07, this shitty band War Tapes was the opening band and after about 5 songs between songs the lead singer said "Thank you...we're War Tapes" in his best Marilyn Manson goth-sounding voice. Being one person back from the rail front center I yelled back "how about war - get the fuck off the stage!" My exclamation drew some boos, and the lead singer and a few other band members looked at me in anger and walked off the stage and didn't finish their set.

They were supposed to play for another half hour, according to the crying girl in front of me who was only there to see them. Yeah, I'm a dick. But it was pretty hilarious.
