I need some suggestions on mtn bike frames or complete built bikes. I was looking at ellsworth frames but $3,000 on frames alone is insane.
I was also looking at rocky mountain bikes which seem like a good buy....maybe?
Ibis is a good company or Santa Cruz, but all those boutique bikes will cost a pretty penny. If you just want a starter bike, there is nothing wrong with a good old Schwinn or Gary Fisher.
I dont want to die. Im a big boy I don't need a fisher splitting the frame on me. Ill check out santa cruz and ibis.
Is jamis decent?
Santa Cruz and Marin's are some of my favorites, but I like cannondales too...
I'm still riding my old Specialized and it's lasted a good 8 - 10 years of abuse and it's not a high up model, but I'm waiting to save up for a Santa Cruz or a Marin...

Yeah Jamis and Cannondales are all good bikes. It really depends on what kind of riding you want to do. Do you want a downhill, cross country, etc. Each company will have their own ups and downs depending on your intentions.
Leaning towards cross country. Strictly downhill are a pain in the ass.

It's only $6,000.
only.
Regardless of that bike, that website is a good place to do some "window shopping."
This one too. My good buddy owns this shop, and they will ship all over the country.

I'm bringing a couple of bikes.
"Well, that's just like, you know... your opinion, man"
Yea for bikes!!!!
the best thing to do is set a budget (and stick to it) then go to the local bike shops and try them out if the bike fits like an old sneaker than you found your bike just about any bike in the 1000 dollar range will be good
I have an Ibis ti mojo and Sazbo and two Titus Riddler's of one is a single speed rigid, the other is a work in progress for about three years Now a days there are just to many to sort out
Canondale's have steep angles and can be twitchy at speed but climb really well
Santa Cruz have been overrated, Elsworth cheap aluminum,

A Santa Cruz won't break on you, I have a family friend who swears by SC bikes, and he's a big dude, like 250 and rides that bad boy everyday, check them out...

zajaa, did you buy anything yet?
The Felt that was posted looks awesome. You might also consider the Cannondale Bad Boy or the Specialized Sirrus if you're looking for a geared bike. Descent components for the $5-600 range and a more upright riding position.
More or less just trying to figure out how to post a picture....but these are a few of my fixed builds

well, that sucked
It worked. We just gotta click on the thumbnail. If you want to post a better pic than you need to go through a site like photobucket.
Those are some pretty bikes mucho. I like the one on top the best.![]()
Here's pictures of my fixed gear bikes over the past few years. I built all of them up myself. The first two are conversions and the last one (most current) is what I'm riding now and it's a track frame. You can really see how my taste changed over the years.
