Anyone know any good trails in South Orange County aside from Whiting Ranch, Aliso Wood, and Chutes (Irvine Park)?

I just got into the sport few months ago picked up a used dual-suspension Kona. I hear there's some good trials by Ortega Hwy but never been, would love to find out about more trails in the area and link up with fellow Coachellan riders.

I went downhill mountain biking for my first time a few years back. A buddy of mine who was pretty serious in mountain biking talked me into it. So we went up to the ski resort and I rent a $3,000 bike. I had no fucking clue what I was doing. He takes me to the top of the advance run. 2 min in I shout at him for pointers. He told me don't use your front brake.....Or it was the other way around....I only have one fucking arm!!!!! I can only control one brake. I have never gone faster in my life! Scariest thing I have ever done. Ended up with many gouges and bruises but only fell once.

It is an awesome sport. Which arm are you missing? Because I hope it's your left. That is awesome that you managed to control the bike. I can barely do it with 2 arms. I have so many scars.

We went for a night ride last week and a girlfriend of mine landed face first and split her chin open - 10 stitches. Poor thing.

It's the left I have a robot hand now. Always had the prosthetic to hold on the handle bars though. The worst accident I had was when I went off a dirt jump pulled up on the handle bars went for the bunny hop and the post came away from the frame. Shattered my collar bone. But held on to those fucking handle bars until I woke up.

He jacked up his knee. That's about it. He's broken most of his bones in other falls. This time he was really lucky.

If you're in Arizona and interested in getting a fixed or single speed bike, this looks cool and is inexpensive.

That is awesome, and once you have the skills to maintain a fixed or single speed bike you are totally independent. They should do something like this for inner city kids.

as well as breaking a few components, I've decided to not be such a blockhead, and start using a little safety equipment.

and am looking for some opinions on a few other safety items. I need a good helmet ASAP and have never ever worn one. Anyone have a personal favorite? Any tips on getting a better fit? Dealing with helmet head?

I'm also in the market for a new bike computer. My old Blackburn is not so black and mostly burnt. It works when it wants to now. I tried going the iPhone route, but that kills the battery in no time and I'm trying to keep my bike weight under 26lbs. Anybody have luck with a sub $100 bulletproof unit?

What other safety equipment have you been using that you'd recommend to others? Lets chat. Go.
