I fainted on my ride today. I pushed it hard up the hill and when I go to the top I rode over next to my friends, set my bike down on the dirt, leaned down to get my water bottle, leaned my head back to drink, and just dropped. Luckily my friend was quick enough to catch me before I landed on top of my bike. Soooooo embarrassing.

The worst part was that we were only half way through the ride. My friends are the best. The ladies rode and brought the car to the closest possible spot, and the boys walked with my husband and me.

Oh man that sucks but super glad you're okay.

My friends are planning on biking to the beach soon. The weather these nights has just been so perfect for it.

Watched The Birth Of Big Air the other day. So many memories, I was really excited. While I never rode with Matt, considering he lived in the mid-west, I rode with, and in an area where many sponsored riders came from. Makes me wanna go bust my ass on my bike.

    First BIG AIR

Second big air, after DC and Mira tried to act like the first one didn't happen.

I think this was his first picture in a magazine. His mom sent it in. 13.

Our annual trip riding Mammoth Mountain:

The mountain is now owned by the same guy that runs Whistler, and they are doing great things to make Mammoth a key resort for mountain bikers. That bike down there was a rental and it SUCKED!!!

James took a good fall. You should see his ribs. With a handlebar to the ribs we're still not sure if he just bruised it or if he might have cracked a rib. Ouch!

Ouch, not what I want to see when I'm about to go riding, hope he's ok...

Got my rims trued yesterday, the single speed rims got way out of alignment. I guess a cheap bike has some down sides, but good thing my friend works at a bike shop...(locktighted the spokes so they won't come loose again)

I broke one of the pedals on my single speed. The point where the stirrup strap threaded through the pedal busted straight through. For cheap plastic jobs they lasted a while. Now I have some good metal rat trap types, which are a dream to use after my old pedals.

    Also some bike art

Had to leave my bike overnight in a train station lot yesterday. Somebody stole my rear light holder thingy, where you slide on and off the rear light so nobody steals your light. WTF

It's "Harbor Island", you must be from Boston.

Super cool, I have found few large groups more fun than those that are there to celebrate the bike.

i went biking for the first time in awhile last night. it was really fun. we went on this trail near south mountain in phoenix along a golf course path.

my only concern were the hills. my brakes are complete shit as my schwinn is from 1974. how much can it roughly cost to replace the brakes? i'm curious if i should just buy a new brake or invest in the brakes.

I'm jealous, we've got nothing like that ride within 1000 miles of here. For that kind of riding, you'll probably spend more on proper upgrades than the bikes worth. After a significant layoff from riding I opted to buy a good used bike instead of updating my Gary fisher. Best decision I could have made. For 500 on eBay I now have a bike 5 times more badass than upgrades could have made the old bike. Make sure you know what size bike fits you, then get some help from your bike shop on adjusting it for your style. I always loved my old bike, but having a better tuned and performing bike has kept me enthused about riding again. Money well spent.

thanks for the advice. i feel very fortunate to live in the foothills of the mountain (and so does the person i went with), so this makes it a lot easier to do that type of riding. there isn't much else like that in phoenix. plus, we're on the southeast side of the mountain and therefore the sun is setting behind the hills and it's gorgeous. i think i also want a mountain bike. the suspension on his bike looked pretty sweet. i wonder how expensive that will get though...

i always wanted a cruiser because they are cute, but i hate the idea of not having hand brakes. fuck pedal brakes. my schwinn is a nice balance because it looks cute, but has hand brakes:

I was quite suprised how far money goes in this economy. Suspension is highly overated for recreational biking. After seeing that sweet ride you have though, better brakes and a good tuning would make a world of difference while rocking that awesome 70's green.
