"OC Music Fest 09 showcases some of today's top Billboard 100 artists while introducing new talent...". That can go horribly wrong. Hopefully they somehow get a great line up. Personally i like the facor of being able to sleep in my own bed.
A big negative is having it so close to Coachella time wise. It could hurt attendance and just might siphon away a few artists.
The location is a wonder. Any ideas? The Fairgrounds?

wonder who is promoting this... its interesting but its a wait and see at this point.... coachella comes first............
Welcome to the OC Music Fest 09!
The west coast's premiere and unique music festival that brings a-list, veteran, and up and coming artists together on the same stages. OC Music Fest 09 showcases some of today's top Billboard 100 artists while introducing new talent to the very enthusiastic Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside and San Diego County's concert goers.
The goal of OC Music Fest 09, hosted in Orange County, CA is to create a most memorable music themed experience in the vibrant Orange County market place, in a way that is environmentally conscious and educational for all that attend.
OC Music Fest 09 is a 3-Day event and festival held in May of 2009, with 5 to 8 stages, nearly 100 playing artists and bands, keynote address by an industry icon, more than 100 vendors, all the while artist development activities and workshops will go on for artist support and development. OC Music Festival is the location where the artists collaborate, build relationships amongst other artists, and gain the exposure that would normally take an entire tour to generate. 20,000-60,000 spectators will witness this all in 1 weekend
i also read that billboard top 100 and that turned me off quick! dont need to see fergie and mariah......... its got shit written all over it but it would be nice to have another solid music fest in california..
The "sell" like it's a convention is a turn off as well. Makes it sound like the primary objective is to get business done.
ooh. that could go in the way of Depeche Mode, The Cure, and REM.
but, it could just as well be Journey, Van Halen, and Flock of Seagulls.
i'm doubting the line-up will resemble any decent summer music festival. it'll probably be a family thing for OC Fair kind of people.
Well it could get some awesome bands playing Coachella depending on what week they are
but than it could borrow some Stagecoach bands
And it seems like it will either be held at Oak Canyon Ranch or The Fairgrounds
Eww...
.
i wonder if the ferris wheel is a give away that it will be the fair grounds...would be kinda sweet if it was seeing as how i live across the street. the super ghetto website doesnt give me a lot of hope though. Also as was previously mentioned...that NYE event had sugar ray headline. I am cautiously optimistic.
....cuz you kno, if there was one thing that southern california needed, it was another music festival.
i was pondering this location situation. i'll go with the ferris wheel being an indication of the Fairgrounds, but Anaheim Stadium could be a possibility. The Grove is in the parking lot and other stages could be set up. That could definitely mess with parking capacity, but they will have all those hotels close by and a Metro stop right in the lot (keeping with the green thing). Not likely, but a possibility. Not the most gorgeous place to be walking around.
If you click on the Show Schedule circle on the right, you can see a flyer that mentions the 405.
If you click on "Schedule" on their website, you can see some wording ending in "..eets the 405". If it where the 5 meets the 405, that is by the spectrum (which has a ferris wheel). and verizon wireless amp. by wild rivers water park.

Upcoming shows:
You can see "ts the 405". That could be the Spectrum (5 meets the 405), but that would be nuts. It's busy enough without a huge festival. Cirque has been in the parking lot before...not comparable to a main stage with a few others.
Wait, it's going to be at the Great Park in Irvine. That is close to where the 5 and the 405 meet. That could be a pretty great location.
Fairgrounds are off the 55.

I predict Katy Perry.
My money's on the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater or Oak Canyon Ranch.
Upcoming shows:
I really doubt it will be at Angel Stadium since it will be baseball season, i dont think the great park will be finished by then, i dont even think they have broken ground yet.(i could be wrong)...probably oak canyon or the fair grounds.
I can't see the OC drawing many bands of any interest. I may be pessimistic, but it's only after years of being let down by the O.
Confirmed to be "Where the 5 meets the 405." The part blocking the first half has been removed on the site.
