Contact some of the car rental's at LAX and ask if you can rent something. Wouldn't hurt to try.

LAX from the site? I'm not too sure on that but I can tell you it might be a bit tricky to get all the way to Indio. You can mapquest/google local it.

LA to Indio return on the Greyhound for 45 bucks. Doesn't seem unreasonable... haha, this is a real headfuck trying to organise this from however many thousand miles away. It'll be worth it, I have no doubt.

Amtrak has a station indio don't they? Fairly cheap too.

FYI LAX to the festival is about a 2 1/2 hour drive assuming there's no traffic but then again you will be in sunny LA.
