I was listening to the back end of Flaming Lips - The Terror while this happened. In the dark with nothing but my blue BBE preamp light adding a glow. The track was called Turning Violent. That was fucking freaky and not that fun.

I now know for certain what it feels like for the surface of the earth to push vertically. That second? or I think it was the third was a speed bump, inside of a wood structure, with no speed bumps.

Odd. I was at a restaurant in Brea and it was definitely the strongest/most violent I've felt, including maybe Northridge. Place went nuts.

I was watching Speedy Ortiz at the El Rey when it happened, didn't feel a thing. Didn't even realize there was an earthquake until I was checking my phone between bands.

We really felt this one on the 5th floor last night. Things fell off the shelves and the tv and posters on the wall were all swinging back and forth. it felt like it lingered for a really long time too.

Nothing fell off the shelves here thankfully as I didn't go to cover (like I never do) and it wasn't until it was over that I realized I was sitting underneath the biggest and heaviest panting in the house.

I do have a few friends that live in the epicenter area and from the posting on Facebook there houses got rocked. Shit was everywhere on the floor.

Long one too. Both these last couple of big quakes have lasted a more than a few seconds.

    Boom
    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.

Was in icu, 7th floor, at hospital for the one a couple weeks ago. Different hospital now and on the 9th floor and last night was intense, seemed to go for well over 30 seconds, we were really moving up here. I am not in any shape to run should I need to get out, tied to oxygen and an iv pole. Not cool, earth! Was taking a shit on the toilet for this last aftershock.

Structurally speaking, you are in one of the two best places to be during an earthquake. 1) Hospital 2) Public Elementary K-12 Grades.

These structures hold the highest zoning standards in California earth quake fault zones. Factor of safety up the wazoooo.

I read that there have been at least 100 aftershocks. We even felt the 5.1 out here in Indio.
