i agree about peggy. she's allowed to behave like don at her new job. i totally get her frustration after re-watching season 5. it's annoying to be a woman and have people treat you like you're a "bitch" when men get away with speaking frankly. i deal with that at work all the time. go peggy.

i also loved seeing betty look for the girl. i couldn't help but think of "she's leaving home", but that would have been a cheesy (and expensive) song to overlay.

i think pete is going to rise while don falls. notice that don wanted to cancel the meeting and pete said no. the meeting happened. don puking at the funeral and failing on the hawaii project also shows he is losing control.

also, i love Chopin, but it cracks me up how in movies/TV when someone wants to show off their musical talent, it's always Chopin they play.

Finally had time to catch up on Sunday's ep. Well, dang, Trudy. After the incident with the Au Pair that Pete got drunk so he could take advantage of, I always wondered if you knew way more than you let on about his philandering. And while we've always heard of wives who look the other way, I admit to being disappointed that you turned out to be one of them. But why wait to divorce? If you feel so humiliated, then strike now!

And it wasn't until this ep that I recognized Linda Cardellini as the actress playing Sylvia! At first, she seemed much older, but once I recognized her she seemed too young for the role.

I can't believe this thread has been so dormant this season.

I love Roger just showing up for 30 seconds an episode and stealing whatever scene he's in. Betty has been not intolerable this season. Pizza Haus Peggy is still one of tv's best characters. It looks like Harry is working towards a meltdown. Alison Brie ripping into Pete was fucking glorious. This past episode was really strong for almost all of the characters and it's going to be interesting to see how the race riots continue to impact everyone, even though there's not really any major black characters on the show (unless they decide to develop Dawn some).

Caught up on the last three episodes I missed since going to Coachella. All were great but last nights was really one of the best of the series so far. It captured the anger, paranoia, and fear of the time so well. I especially loved the scenes between Don and his son. Also, the scene where he is describing his feelings toward his children to Megan was brilliant and made my heart want to explode.

I'm loving Peggy's story so far this season and can't wait for her boss and the dude from Veronica Mars who was introduced last night to start fighting over her. BTW, when do you guys think her baby with Peter will be brought back up again? I'm assuming they are waiting for the child to be old enough to carry a conversation before bringing him (I think it was a boy?) back up.

Peter defending MLK's honor was great "I'll put this in terms you'll understand. He had a wife and 4 children" ♥

Can we get a shout out to William Mapother for being so brilliantly squirmy in the latest episode?

I love that Roger Sterling is bringing his acid buddies in for pitches now.

Reading some critics who aren't as big on this season. I have really enjoyed it so far. They're still setting up the chessboard, but it's still been an incredible early ride in my opinion.

It was a less interesting rehash of the JFK episode. They could have at least tried to find a client to tie it to to give it some significance. Betty suggesting that Don drive the kids through uptown was fucking insane though, what the fuck.

They've still got to do RFK's assassination, the 1968 Democratic National Convention and riots (this season), and the moon landing (probably next). It's a tough balance between doing it soapy and doing it Forrest Gumpy. To me this one was better than the JFK assassination because after the shock reactions (which were kinda repeat, and let's face it, too convenient by half to have everyone assembled in one room), they did a good job of showing it reflected through the psyches of Pete, Don, little Bobby Draper, etc.

I was kind of on team Betty on this one: fuck Don, he was using the riots as an excuse to not see his kids.

That's kind of irrelevant. Whether Don did or didn't want to see his kids, any mother who insists that her children go driving through A FUCKING RIOT just to teach the husband a lesson is a shitty mother. What the fuck is wrong with you.

Well right, but she was just super passive aggressive about it, and didn't actually demand that he pick up the kids, or specifically tell him to drive through Harlem to do it.

Betty Francis is still a passive aggressive child of a woman. But her larger point was correct.

Did you pay like zero attention to the conversation? Don HAS to drive through uptown to get to where they are, you shithead.

Look at it this way: if it really is too dangerous/risky to pick up the kids, then why go ahead and call her bluff and actually do it? I mean, Betty was only actually coercive in that she (unintentionally) made him feel guilty about caring more about his mistress than his children. She didn't threaten him or demand anything.

This ep was quite exciting, though, it left me a little apprehensive at the end. On the one hand, the merger is a pretty good idea. OTOH, I can't help feel a little like Peggy is back at square one again, working for Don. I guess we'll see how it plays out.

While I don't hate Megan, I have to say that the best part of her is her mother's appearances. Marie is a bitch, but she makes me laugh.

It also made his son being more worried about his step dad being shot than Don all the more gut wrenching.

Whew. I was afraid the plane was going to go down.

I have to hand it to Sylvia for putting an end to it, though. Because Don overheard the argument, I thought she was going to become clingy and that Don was going to end it to nip that in the bud. But I chuckled a little at the look on his face when she shut the whole thing down. Well, for now anyway.

However, the red dress he bought her...mmm mmm mmm. Loved it. Too bad she left it behind.
