Yeah, Gun-Shy has a weird vocal sound to me as well (and the music is also not working for me with that fluffy keys line). "Neo easy-listening" is not only apt, but rather funny too. And, thank Mohammed that they didn't make an entire album in that direction! Ha...you also nailed it on Simple Answer, Chris..."Peanuts song"....that's fucking rich. At least the vocals are a little more tolerable on this to make it more interesting live.

Having said that...I think this LP has also lept to my top spot. I need to revisit some of my earlier favorites to feel convinced of this, but it certainly is pulling me in hard. Speaking in Rounds is going to be so fucking great live!

Man, there are really some strong tracks on Daniel Rossen's EP from earlier this year. If they had replaced A Simple Answer and Gun-Shy with Silent Song and Golden Mile, Shields would have been a nearly perfect album in my book.
