I guess I don't get it. They're just a conventionally bad team with key injuries, but the way people go on and on, it's like they're Gigli or Spider Man the Musical crossed with the Bronx Zoo-era Yankees.

How many potential playoff teams have the Redskins beat this season? I count one, Baltimore. In a miraculous overtime victory. You can make that two if the Vikings pull the upset over the Packers. They've feasted on a declining NFC East this season. Robert Griffin is the man but there isn't a division winner I'd rather have the Hawks play in the wild card round. Except Dallas, of course.

Yes, true, Seattle has that quality win over the Packers.

Pro Bowl rosters out, 49ers have 9 players in it, 7 of them starting.

And the Patriots, 49ers, Bears, Vikings and Cowboys. Three definite playoff teams, three potential ones. If I were a disgruntled Cardinals fan I would be pointing to Richard Sherman's potential four-game suspension as the main reason Seattle fans should be worried about the playoffs. Losing our best defensive player would be cause for concern, I'll admit.

You also lost one to the 49ers so there is that. The bears started off 7-1 and are now 9-6 and you guys beat them since they started stinking it up so I wouldn't exactly call them a play off team. You guys beat the cowboys at the beginning of the season where people always think they are going to be the super bowl champs until realizing they are nothing better then a .500 team so I think that win was hyped up more then it should have been. Beat the Vikings prior to their current streak so at that point they really weren't considered a play off team. That being said it's been proven that the current hot team has won the Superbowl in the past and Seattle is the hot team right now so I wouldn't be surprised for them to make a deep playoff run. But yes if Sherman does get his suspension to go along with an already thin secondary I would be extremely worried as a Seattle fan and extremely happy as any other playoff team fan.

I made note of everything you're trying to correct me on here:

You're also correct that the 49ers handed us the biggest ass-whooping we've had all year: 13-6. In our five losses we lost by an average of 4.8 points. The way San Fran bent over to plundered last Sunday I honestly hope we meet in the playoffs.

There's that margin of victory thing again. It's like arguing with a wooden door jamb.

Lower your voice, Tom. We're debating, not arguing. But I don't even need to win this debate because it is a self-evident fact that you surely agree with but refuse to acknowledge.

Thanks for fighting the good fight, bobert. I'm too lazy to attempt that debate, and this is pretty fun to observe.

Nope it just means they got the most fan votes.

Who cares about margin of victory. A win is a win and a loss is a loss. If a team goes 0-16 but every loss is by 3 points or less people are still going to say 0-16 worst team in the league, not well they had a small margin of defeat. End of the day you are what your record says you are.

Thanks, Pea. Tom knows this isn't about Pete Carroll running up the score (which is a stupid concept to begin with since the point of football is to outscore your opponents and prevent them from scoring.) This is about our supposedly putrid road record, and how when every game you've lost on the road has come down to the final play (or close to it) there is the hope that with a few small improvements in various areas of the game those narrow defeats can become victories. Every Seahawks fan knows we've made those improvements. Every objective football fan knows this. Even Tom knows this. When your team loses 0-58 there is no hope. Only bitterness.

Personally I would rather be blown out and not have any chance of winning then being in the game the entire time and then losing it on the last play. But that's probably just me though.

I'm sure you probably said the same thing about the giants last season, hell I actually like the giants and I said that and look what ended up happening. Being hot at the right time is important also and Seattle is that hot team right now. Personally I agree with you but it's very possible they can make it.

Bold statement, Tom. I love my Seahawks but betting on the outcome of three consecutive road playoff games is probably not a wise bet. However, I feel like this debate has turned a corner, and an agreement can be reached (on a bet of course, not on any of our previous disagreements.) Let's start with these Redskins you find so imposing. I'll wager $25 that Russell gets the better of RGIII. If the Redskins somehow fail to reach the postseason, we can wait until the Hawks dispense with the Cowboys to agree on a wager. Do you agree?

I agree in principle, pending injury status following this week's games.

Naturally. I reserve the same right. Except for Sherman, of course. I've accepted that he'll probably be out until the Superbowl but who knows maybe he was actually innocent or has really good lawyers.

Obama and Boehner could learn something from us, Tom. Maybe we should be running the country.
