As a lifetime duck fan and graduate, Chips flip flopping has made this all the more sour. Instead of initially being happy for the guy like I was a few weeks back, I am now more pissed off then anything. But i guess this is just typical Chip fashion for the way to go out. Still have a ton of question marks for him at the next level but very excited to see how he does.
I'll make one crazy prediction- even with Shady Mccoy being the main guy there, if Jahvid Best has finally gotten over his concussion issues the Eagles will try and bring him in. He fits Kelly's system perfectly

I can see it. Kelly has great weapons to start with there. SHady, Machlin, jackson, ect. He just needs to get himself an o line and a qb..... Doesnt look like the qb will happen in this draft class though
I'm obviously biased, but I think Foles did a fine job for a rookie QB with no o-line.

You mean when they won their first playoff game ever after the move to Arizona?
Being a coordinator is different than being a head coach. And that was 15 years ago. Maybe he's a good manager. Maybe these players will respond to him. There are so many other variables other than "Oh, I didn't like him as an offensive coordinator in the 90's. He won't be successful." I don't think we can judge a head-coaching hire before the guy ever coaches a game.
Well, what else do we have to judge him on? Dude couldn't hold a job for more than a few years. 49ers OC, then Cardinals OC, then Raiders OC, then "spent a year with the Dolphins", then NC State OC, then to Canada. He did manage to keep a job for 5 years in the CFL, there is that. Congratulations.
I will say it to the day I die. Cutler is the problem. If The Broncos didn't have Del Rio I would root for them to pick up Lovie.
I'm so happy the Chargers took McCoy. They will end up worse than KC did this year. McCoy is a giant pussy.
Vikings fans would've been rejoicing if the Bears hired Darrel Bevel instead. That dude was worthless with the Vikings

true. He was actually guilty by association with Brad Childress when Childress coached them. A lot of people think that Bevell never had play-calling duties in the time he was here as well. So he does have some excuses. Its just between being linked to Childress (who every Viking fan pretty much hated), and the fact that Leslie Frazier wasted no time getting rid of him once he became coach, no Viking fan thinks much of his ability.
But you're right he didn't have a qb most of the time he was here, and maybe he's just smarter and savvier in the years since leavinig Minnesota. But I'd still laugh if he gets a head coaching gig anywhere.

And it looks like Bruce Arians is the new Cardinals coach.
*based upon tedious fact checking.
So that makes it:
Arizona Cardinals
Bruce Arians (former Colts OC/Interim HC) replaces Ken Whisenhunt (now the Chargers OC)
Buffalo Bills
Doug Marrone (former NCAAF Syracuse HC) replaces Chan Gailey (unemployed and taking a break)
Chicago Bears
Marc Trestman (former CFL Montreal Alouettes HC) replaces Lovie Smith (unemployed and waiting for a HC gig)
Cleveland Browns
Rob Chudzinski (former Panthers OC) replaces Pat Shurmur (unemployed, interviewing as an OC)
Jacksonville Jaguars
Gus Bradley (former Seahawks DC) replaces Mike Mularkey (unemployed and no clue)
Kansas City Chiefs
Andy Reid (former Eagles HC) replaces Romeo Crennel (unemployed and no clue)
Philadelphia Eagles
Chip Kelly (former NCAAF Oregon HC) replaces Andy Reid (now Chiefs HC)
San Diego Chargers
Mike McCoy (former Broncos OC) replaces Norv Turner (now Browns OC)

And with that, Horton appears out. Todd Bowles? This organization drives me nuts.

Apparently Horton had a 'heated exchange' with Steve Keim after being told Arians had been hired, and that got him fired.
edit: no he's not been fired but he is demanding to be let out of his contract, he is seriously pissed he didn't get the gig.
I was one who really rooted for the Cards not to hire Horton as HC......now I'm disappointed he might be leaving. Whatever Horton did, he did it well. I hope Arians was on the phone all night, not celebrating and trying to convince Horton to stick around. Maybe an Assistant Head Coach position similar to Grimm?

I wasn't rooting for them not to hire Horton so much as I was hoping that if they did hire him it would be because he was the right choice and not because they thought they had to. Horton was claiming he could deliver Norv Turner as OC and Mike Tice as OL coach, but who knows if that's true?
I agree 100% that it was important for the FO to not feel forced into making him HC just to keep him.
I'm curious about this though.......ESPN claims the front office was worried that hiring Horton was a tough decision because " promoting Horton would have severely reduced the team's options for hiring an offensive staff."
Isn't this true for anybody they hire? It seems like the FO could have handled not hiring him a lot better. Though of course I don't know all the facts.
